EOS M: M for Mirrorless

Noticed that AF beam was blocked by his fumbling fingers. Would be great if they have lightweight Ef-M lens of 500mm or longer lens at decent prices for birding enthusiasts.

Both the above videos showed the slow autofocus using the touch screen,

if using shutter button it might be faster

Touchscreen focusing from other camps are better by a mile

I am surprised how badly Canon is doing in terms of sensor and contrast AF development for the past 5 years. Ewww... Just waiting for the competition to catch up with their lens road-map... once Olympus or Sony gets there, I shall dump Canon.

To be fair, the video all show pre-production model... and there is a slim hope that production model will be better in terms of AF capability.

However, if the AF remained at this speed... then they would lose me as a customer for their EOS-M :(... AF speed always gets to me... I didn't get the X-Pro1 even when I saw how appealing it look and how good the sensor was... but AF speed was always a deal breaker for me (for whatever reason, I just like my cam to be fast) thus OM-D won me over. Now that I am ready to throw in my mid-year bonus for a brand new and shiny mirrorless from Canon, the AF speed (or lack of it) problem came in from those previews...

Just wait for the 1st... REAL... review of a retail product... :bsmilie:

All this discussion based on watching YouTube videos is kind of pointless....

If it's less than 1k... :bsmilie:

Agree it's pointless to watch videos if it doesn't make one drool ;p

although the design might look simple, what is impt is the functions

IIRC... isn't G1x sold at $799 USD also... and in SG... $999... if the records holds... then the selling price should be $999-$1199 depending on package (1 lens or dual lens)

Street price of G1X is $899 I think. So got hope that the single-lens kit street price will be under $1k.

Is the time to said good bye my older LX3 :)

Heard Panasonic is coming out with a LX7... see how 1st... LOL

If the sensor too small, also not as good for close up detail.

Then, the competition (Sony) has cheaper offerings that AF faster and have better imaging sensors.

But if canon wanted to start a price war, they would have a long time ago. :bsmilie:

That's not how it works fortunately. Else they'll go bankrupt in no time.

I still need their service centre... :sweatsm:

Btw... wondering how many color the EOS-M will be in... so far, saw Black, Red and White... I know color is kind of pointless... but never the less... am wondering...

Yeah color is pointless. I would get the white color one, then spray paint it rainbow colour when I am in the mood :bsmilie:
