I guess the designer wanted it lightweight, retro look may double the weight

I don't think retro is in the books of the designers... Canon and Nikon products never look retro. :dunno: I'm pretty sure we won't see an FM-D or AE-D in Canon pipeline.
I'm sure Canon will make similar specs versions with retro, futuristic... looks just to squeeze us dry!![]()

I love the retro design, but I don't find EOS-M ugly or what. Appearance wise, it is acceptable and if the review is good enough, I might buy one.
