EOS M: M for Mirrorless

ugly design for the EOS-M

kinda like the J1's design though.

the designers just slapped on an over-sized IXUS body over the components

anyway it sucks.

both canon and nikon design.

the in thing now should be retro. they should fire the designers and look at OM-D and Fuji Xpro1 for insipiration.

I don't think retro is in the books of the designers... Canon and Nikon products never look retro. :dunno: I'm pretty sure we won't see an FM-D or AE-D in Canon pipeline.

Don't do retro design, user complain why not retro styling and should follow the trend. Do retro styling, user complain about bandwagon jumping and not being original.

lens cap for my 50L.

The Canon EOS M's autofocus system operates in one of three modes: Face Detection & Tracking AF, Multi-point AF, or Single-point AF. A total of 31 autofocus points are available. We believe that--as with the Rebel T4i--the phase detection system is limited only to STM lenses. (Hence, when using most older Canon glass with an adaptor, you'll be using only contrast detection autofocus.)

Soo, does this mean with normal ef lenses, there's only cdaf?

I'm getting tired of all those retro designs. Anyway, I think the EOS M doesn't look appealing. Well, at least the design succeeded in a way coz it looks like a Canon product.

Need not be retro design. But having a contemporary design doesn't mean it can't look nice. Well, what's more important is how it performs! Can't wait for the reviews.

I'm sure Canon will make similar specs versions with retro, futuristic... looks just to squeeze us dry! :)

maybe this one is just a entry level. higher level will have more knobs/buttons.

I love the retro design, but I don't find EOS-M ugly or what. Appearance wise, it is acceptable and if the review is good enough, I might buy one.

I just tell myself this is a 1st gen Canon MILC and move on... ;)

Wondering will they sell just the camera + the EF-EOS M mount.... I don't need the EF-M 22mm f2

Precisely...me too, I love retro design cams, but I don't find EOS-M ugly but rather like the style esp that sort-of 'slight-curved-slope' around/along the region where the shutter button is:thumbsup:Canon:)...(personally much much preferred this Canon's design than my fav brand...'N-V1/J1' looks...plus, esp that 2.7x Sensor...goodness:thumbsd:too disappointed liao)

Will buy one if I wanna feel 'delighting-me-always' again...:bsmilie::bsmilie:

the EOS-M will look cuter with the 8-15L fisheye attached :bsmilie:

For me. the EOS-M can be a 2nd body in the bag since it does not occupy space. It may be mounted either with a wide angle zoom or telezoom to compliment 24-105 zoom on my dSLR body.

Exactly what I am thinking. Save the trouble of switching between this and standard zooms
