If it's really true, I think this might be the sure answer to hammer the D300.

I've always felt Canon's quite sudden release of the 50D was a weak reply to the D300. I personally think the D300 is superior to the 50D in several important aspects.

If this 7D is FF at a more budget price, whoa! Mayhem. Just to see now what sort of dumbed down features it would inherit from the 5D MkII. Maybe fewer ISO settings and smaller LCD screen at 2.5"? Doubt AF will improve.

If they can have a 1000D dumbed down features compared to the 500D, I don't see why not for the 5D II. This will be interesting and those who are waiting for a more affordable 5D, here might be the new toy! Hopefully priced betn 2500-3000k.

Its only a few more days before the truth is revealed. So yeah, let's see if Canon makes some ground breaking camera. All their releases have been minor upgrades.... except for the good HD on the 5D2/500D.

Definitely. The still sell-able 5D Classic is a good enough clue. Majority of people are just more inclined towards having better sensor than anything else.

Yeah its always the huge megapixels which brings in the amount of buyers, although i was pretty wowed by the 5d2's sensor too before getting it

Roughly half the resolution will not kill the 5D2 sales but will hopefully make the price drop so it sells more!!!

New M.Fn. button => customizable button???
On/Off switch on top, just like xxxD/xxxxD seies => no space due to different LCD screen (larger or articulate)???

Neither does the 5D Mk2 top dial show any video mode. It is activated thru' the menu.

Saw this picture late last nite on one of the sites. Initially tot its fake but now I believe it could be the real deal.

Now just left pondering what exactly is the size and type of sensor used. I suspect this could be the '60D' replacement, albeit with FF sensor. Not sure if its able to mount EF-s lens in crop mode (a la D2x) - the lens in the picture doesn't have red dot so it could be EF-s...unless Canon decide to make an entirely new type of lens (for APS-H?)

And a budget FF rumour isn't really too far off...look at the Sony rumours of an entire lineup of new DSLRs including a possible 'budget' FF. But then again Canon might risk killing their 5DII market if they release a budget FF w/ HD video capability... :think:

Look at the naming convention thus far....xxD denotes their prosumer/advanced amature models but all with APS-C size sensors. The single digit xD series is all either 1.3x crop or FF. Thus this rumoured 7D could be either FF or maybe even APS-H (1.3X crop).

The rumoured specs currently floating about (according to canonrumours.com):

EOS 7D
12.1mp Full Frame
DIGIC IV
3″ OLED
ISO 100-25,600 (Probably a 50ISO L Setting)
3.9fps

....... with these specs, sure to get bludgeoned to death by the D700 .............:thumbsd:
