Is there any possibility Canon will one shot release a XD and XXD?
Just my wild guess... I might miss out the point somewhere that Canon will only release on EOS?
S90 - control ring around the lens
HIS - IS to counter rotation and shift vibration for macro purposes
CMOS sensors - pioneers in a field when everyone believed it'll be a flop compared to CCD sensors
17-55 f/2.8 IS - several years after its release, there's still no equivalent
17 mm TSE - no equivalent here either
I won't call Canon unimaginative
I call Canon HIGHLY protective of their profit margins.
Look at Nikon. They went all out to gain market share and they accomplished just that... at a HUGE price. They are bleeding financially now. Canon's profits were also slashed due to the current economic climate... but they're still in the black.
PS: The nearly immediate release of the D700 right after the D3 was a major error on Nikon's part. It effectively killed the sales of the D3 since it was practically the same as the latter especially when mated with a battery grip. The 5D2 is still a FAR CRY from 1Ds3 (simply consider AF system, weather sealing, flexible spot metering etc etc). So, if Nikon has learned their lesson, you will not see the D700X until they are about to release their D4X. :bsmilie:
In any case, I don't care about these things. I just want a 50D upgraded with a better sensor. That's all I want.

I do hope that the 60D will come with 8 to 10fps of continuous shots, 12mp with much better noise and dynamic range and HD video.
I'm also hoping it will be the 60D, so I still can afford to upgrade... but seems it is going to be 7D... is there possible to be 2 camera release in one time ? :think:

it should be both... its either 60D alone or together with 7D.
canon is not going to let the xxD series die out and 7D is definitely not from that series but a brand new market segment as the budget FF.
xxD is still maintained as the prosumer DSLR.
from what has been throwing around, 60D is essentially 50D with more AF points (19?) and the 7D is a de-specc'ed 5D2 with lesser MP count. obviously 2 very different market segments.
unlike nikon which tends to offer models that heavily overlaps market segments, canon seems to be segmenting the market pretty well.
Well, replace the 12 MP FF sensor with 18 MP and 3.9 fps with 8.5 fps, and you'll find the D300/D3/D700 all smothered to death. :bsmilie:
Anyway, we'll know soon enough which rumored specs are true and which ones are figments of someone's imagination.
The 7D is unlikely equipped with 18mp sensor and 8.9fps, because the Digic4 processor may simply have not enough processing power to process these amount of datas load, unless a new Digic5 processor with 1.95 times(just uses a simple calculation, might be wrong) faster than the 5D mkII Digic4 processor is introduced or a dual Digic4 processor setup is introduced into the design. If the 7D uses single Digic4 processor, my geuss will be the 18mp sensor with slower 4.6fps or a 12.7mp(older 5D sensor) with a 6.5fps.

I'm pretty sure there will be a xxD, and a 1D bodies... 7D is possible, but should be a much lower sensor with better high ISO then 5DII. 5DII is too much a success for them to kill it now, Canon will milk it for a while. They know they have reasonably strong line up on lens, a extremely good FF, but they know they are being clobber in the xxD segment, and the Pro/Jornalist segments.
Like what doodah says, Canon is a very prudent company that is more financially driven then most of it's competitors, if they come up with 7D which thread too close to 5D2, it will probably hurt them more then help them financially.

my sentiments exactly. But, now that Sony has announced a budget FF that might all change...
thats very true... canon has been known to be reactive. they probably see a good market in the budget FF segment and is worried sony might suddenly gain dominance in a new segment.
Sony has the financial arm to do anything they want. Just like PS3, they are willing to sell at a lost just to make sure HD-DVD die..... So Sony can create another super camera to try to kill of competition. So Canon, better sit up and listen!:sweatsm:
Canon use to be the brand with the most financial strength, but now Sony is the powerhouse! In the world of business....is who got money who win! Philip invented the DVD....but it is sony who capitalized on it and make money in their discman and etc. Having the money to brainwash people that Sony is the best brand.
