I think D90 is at the segment in between 500d and 50d. They won't compete head on just like boeing and airbus. Products are always in between each other catefories.

I knew from beginning 500D is just another crap (yes my 400D is older crap), and aim for 50D. But my big sister's black face prevent me to do that kind of move (imagine my sister's face when I go back home with bigma). 2 years to go!!!

I have to make some sacrifice. :)

Delay the purchasing of the softlight reflector and ringflash
Sell away one of my camera and lens

However, I will see see first. Priority 100mm Macro. ;p

have u sold off your jinbei? need to sell off so many stuff? drybox overload issit?

Anione see RG comment about 7D C-AF?

There are too many threads and photos by other photographers (including pros) who do not seem to share RG's experience with the 1d3 after the firmware fixes. There are also rigorous tests carried out by magazines that debunk RG's claims. Honestly, I will take everything he says with a pinch of salt. In the same vein, I do not care what DPReview says about sensor quality. I will rather trust DXOMark.

yes but just wondering why he used the zone af to do tracking and not af point expansion instead?

have to agree with u on this. end of the day, how someone feels abt a camera is entirely subjective and usually vested as well.

Jinbei sold liao long time ago. My dry box never overload. Got enough space to put a 300mm f2.8 in. :bsmilie: ..... only selling away the extra stuff. :)

I believe as a reviewer. He/She need to touch on all the functions from the camera. This will cover more in-depth and brings out the results. I believe not every camera is prefect, it depends on how many acceptance the user is willing to take. :)

definitely but how u test it and how u write it will affect the perception people has of it.

fwah , wise words ;p

Before 7D, Canon do not have an SLR in the $2000-$3000 range, where all this while Nikon has enjoyed with their D300 / D300s. Now it is time to gain some market share.

50D or future 60D will still be around to cover $1300 - $1999 range to steal market share in this segment where Nikon D90 has roaring success over Canon. I doubt Canon will leave a void in this category, to hand over to Nikon to thrive in.

And 500D, 1000D are of different class altogether in terms of build and pricing below $1299, where Nikon has its D5000, D3000 tuck-within nicely.

Hmm u got a point. Perhaps 7D is a new class comparable to Nikon's D200/300 series.

I find his experience very interesting.... lets see the others after the 7D is released.

But it also means I avoid being beta tester

true. always avoiding being an early adopter!

That is very wise especially after the 1D3 debacle. :bsmilie:

Honestly, up till now, I still have a hard time accepting that Canon actually shipped out crippled PROFESSIONAL cameras. Sigh... but that was also the period when Canon ran into a whole series of QC issues. There was also a forum thread when some ex-Canon employee claimed he was unfairly treated by Canon and he would seek revenge. Not sure how true it was. :dunno:

Edit: Under normal circumstances, I will also wait a while before purchasing new equipment. However, I need a camera now for an upcoming trip (old camera is a little wonky). So, I will be a 7D beta tester and let you know how it goes. :bsmilie: I am rather rigorous in my testing...

yah man, after the 1dmk3 scenario i still abit scared scared of it ... haha even though it should all be fixed liaoz

I think he probably is not aware of this feature. Its after all a 1-series feature which never trickled down to the rest of the series until now.

true. nothing beats a hands on yourself.

End of the day. If you don't have a SLR and need it, Buy. If you want to upgrade from your existing SLR, Buy. If you want to have a feel of latest technologies from Canon, Buy.

No need to compare with Nikon, worry about being early adoptors and worry about Canon's market segmentation. This is Canon's problem. Any fault other than mechanical can be upgrade via firmware.

In short, BBB!
