EOS 70D officially announced and previewed

Good advice, will rent to see if I'm comfortable. Wonder what lens should I go with it to shoot at RWS, any advice?

18-200mm, all focal length will be covered. Forget about all other lens if you don't know which focal length you will need.

Now they have another promo: 5million crumpler bag when you register your 70D online.

For videos, at least a Class 6 card is recommended. I think you should check with whichever shop that gave you the free gift.

Hi,
I got a Toshiba 8Gb, speed 4 instead of the SanDisk SD card. What speed is it? Thanks.

Just to add. I was using Ultras & Extremes, Class 10, about 30 MB/s on my 550D (before my 70D) for quite sometime. Generally quite good for videos but occasionally didn't record properly. Lately I bought a 80 MB/s and did many burst shots and a few videos during a ceremony overseas. Very fast transfers, so nice to use, and all pictures & videos came out well. I now use 80 MB/s on the 70D as well, not too many shots or videos taken yet, can't comment much for now.

If possible, use a a Class 10 on the 70D, with faster rate if budget allows. 550D manual recommends at least Class 6, but I haven't used it before. Class 4 is inadequate from my experience on 550D.

Happy snapping :-)

70D owners and using Photoshop CS6, don't forget that CS6, at this point, doesn't support 70D Raw files.

Adobe has a beta Camera Raw 8.2 at the moment, you can find it here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cameraraw8-2/

Just did a simple test @ ISO 3200.
Canon EOS 70D
EF-S 85/1.8

Left side is Raw @ ISO 3200. Right side is in-camera-converted JPEG
100% crop
NR - Standard
High ISO NR - OFF

Looks great!

thanks for the input. any reason why you chose that card?

Both from a performance and price point. Was using Sandisk Ultra Class 6 before this and wanted a faster card for 70D, considering the file size, fps and video. Been using Sandisk for a while and find it reliable.

What are u looking to shoot this weekends?

Not sure yet. I like Gardens by the Bay. Also an annual pass holder, thus can go to the conservatories & skywalk as often as I like :-)

Tried HSS by Yongnuo YN500EX @ 1/8000s using 70D, iso 100, Sigma 35 @ f1.4... convincing result.
Lens was micro-set to +18 at infinity due to front focusing issue.
