EOS 70D officially announced and previewed

Wonder should I rent this for next week company event at Sentosa RWS.

IF you're considering buying the camera for yourself, it would be a great way to test it to see if it meets your needs.

Good advice, will rent to see if I'm comfortable. Wonder what lens should I go with it to shoot at RWS, any advice?

The new Sigma 18-35mmf1.8.
Go search for review online.

What kind of trip is it? If you're going with family and kids, light weight lenses such as 18-55 STM kit, Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 non-VC etc are prefered. Otherwise, you may want to try out the heavweight ones like Canon 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM, Sigma 18-35 f/1.8.

Any idea what is the street price for 70D body only?

Anyone know if the 70D would be cheaper from the coming Comex? Street price is now around $1330

Can't decide buy now or next week

I don't think comex will sell cheaper. Perhaps maybe more free gifts or different gifts.

thanks for replying. I think the pricing will be out on wednesday. :)

Both TK Photo and Alan Photo are offering it at $1320 (cash & carry).
Bought one yesterday and trying it out.
Good focusing performance and latest screen interface functions.
Much heavier than my current 500D(with grip).
Nice photos with my Sigma 18-35mm.
Overall, quite happy with my new toy.

How's the focusing speed for photo taking compared to 500D?

You are saying 70D body is heavier than 500D+grip?

Thanks for sharing

Thats good to know. Will you be able to show a sample pic of the built in hdr?

70D = 755 g incl. battery and card
500D + grip = 527 g (incl. battery and card ) + 230 g (grip) + 50 g (extra battery) = 807 g

Hee Hee... :bsmilie:

How much is the set? All are freebies?

The EOS bag & 8GB SD Card were included in the recent Canon promotion which ended on 03Sep13. ((The minion on surfboard was from a Happy Meal in Australia...haha!)

I hope to read more discussion here from other 70D owners on the technical and handling aspects of the 70D & to see their nice photos. I thought the birds taken by Meng Huat (on his Flickr) were very nicely done - thanks for sharing.

The 70D is my 2nd DSLR, after the 550D, which was also bought at launch and has given me so many good travel memories. I like the 18-135 range for my travels; thus I've bought the 18-135 STM Kit once more with the 70D.
