Thanks a lot for your information. So at the end also come down to the question of one's need right.

I bought the 5D recently, no doubt I am very happy about it compare to my 10D, for which is still my work horse and I still love it.

But just got me thinking about the 1dMk2N when I saw this post, that did I really bought the right camera hehe.

You mean 1 series got faster responsive in AF compare to 5D? Why?

I don't think I can try out a lot in the shop when you can only test a couple of shots, perhaps be able to rent from someone for a day would be nice. hahaha
1-series sensors are said to be 3x more sensitive

Where did you find that info may I ask? ;)

My 1Ds feels like a tank with a pick-up engine. I should have gotten a 5D instead but what the heck. Its just a camera. Cheers!

Yeah, one big disadvantage for 1D-series are their battery pack. Its NiMH are making it very heavy, why havent Canon tot of using Li-ION??

But if u like a 5D with the additional Battery Grip attached, then I would suggest u going straight for the 1D instead. :)

- It may not be weather seal but again it depends on one's need, I will not take my camera go under waterfall or whatever that might damage my camera, and how safe is weather seal? Can you dump the camera into water and still ok? This one I cannot find in any review. If have, please point me to it, thanks a million. :)

hehe...weather-sealed doesnt meant waterproof lah... :bsmilie: having said that, i remember watching a video of this jap or korean chap who showered a 1D. cam was still usable after that.

I'm not sure about 3x, or sensitivity, but the one series have more cross-type sensors which can be activated at F4, as opposed to less number of cross-type sensors, which can only be activated at F2.8 in some of the non-1series.

If you're letting go of the 1Ds, do PM me to check with me on my financial status ya? I've been eyeing on the 1Ds for the longest time.

I've gotten used to the weight of the monsters. It's more than neck breaking. It's wrist breaking too. And the batteries aren't just heavy. They're huge.
But heck, I love the accuracy of the 45 point AF sensors. I love the lens drive mechanism, making slower lens turn faster when hunting. I love the low mirror black out. I love the shutter response... the...

1-series are the flagship models of Canon (so are the D1/D2 ranges of Nikon). Naturally, all the cutting edge technology from GPMG firing rates, enhanced sensors are all there.

But all those cutting edge technolgies comes with a price and a weight to boot (1.5kg as said by Belle&Sebastian). At the end of the day, I guess it boils down to what we demand and how we maximise usage out of the camera. With the exception of equipment wankers (which seems to be ever growing, I had the luck of not meeting one such wanker yesterday), the first thing ppl would usually see are photos.

If what one demands is a machinegun, the 1DMkIIn would be a choice. :)
If what one demands is a wide area coverage, the 5D is a natural. :D
If u want the best of both worlds, there is always the 1DsMkII to fulfill one's needs. ;p

Photography afterall, is a journey to discover what you truly like. Kinda like sampling food in a supermarket. U can sample all the food u want, but u can't get full simply by eating samples alone and still have to take ur lunch at the end of the day. :)

I think this is a very useful input from everyone, I think I will keep that in mind on my next upgrade, in don't know how many century later hahaha :P
