Oooh! How I wish I had the 5DM2 during the Singapore GP! I had to shoot at ISO1600 and the noise from my 40D is simply unbearable... :(

Holy @#$! don't scare me dude.... Were you on the straights? I was at turn 1/2/3 and I never had to go beyond ISO 400, F4 and 1/80th sec...the cars were travelling at about 90-130km/h there on average.

It may about time for MO of this camera 5D MK11 with once of the shop at singapore.
With huge amount of potential buyer , it may get better discount in return of the buyer in single transcation. :bsmilie:

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:;p

1/80sec? You were panning yah? I must really get my panning skills honed in..... I was stalking out Turn 14 shooting on a stationary mount. From where I was, the lights only allowed using a f2.8 at ISO1600 to get a 1/800 shutter speed lah.

somebody had a 1dmkII..... hahahahahaha

somebody had a 1dmkII..... hahahahahaha

There was this one chap with a 1dMkII, did not seem to realise that he needed to pan, kept on shooting, and looking confused.... Realised his mistake when he saw the official photographer.

I saw a very young dude with a 1DmkIII at Turn 14 on the 2nd day with a puzzled look after every shot as well. Before the qualifying rounds, he asked me, "So, are you planning to spam your shutter?". Although I eventually figured out what "spam" meant, and replied "No", what I really should have said was "We use your camera, my CF card, we share the pictures ok?";p

There was also a young lady at the same turn using a 40D and a 300f2.8 who told me that her dad had pre-set the camera for her and all she planned to do was to focus and fire continuously when the cars came round.

Morale of the stories: We better work really hard now to provide top end toys for our kids when its their turn to go F1 shoot'in :)
seriously why are you holding a 1dmk3 when you're asking questions like that. he's a very serious gear collector. -_-

and I should have been there!! could've swapped her lens out with my 300F4... she'll NEVER KNOW. hahahahahaha.

I did not pan, but the shots are still sharp...could even see the eye of the driver. It really depend on where you are shooting and how you are shooting. I shot most of the cars at 1/320 sec no issue at all without panning. I simply wait for the car to appear at the exact location that I want and fire. One shot one kill.

Now L lenses are cheap. I know of people who own the whole set of the supper teles starting from 200F2 to 600 F4(They will be getting the 800F5.6 soon). For what? Collection? Show off? well with money they can do what they like. Can even sit on the lens if they want.:bsmilie: Frankly, if you just throw your bonus to one super tele each year, in 7-8 years you would have own all of them.

that is SO true, I can't agree with you more. Just recently there was a thread about a guy who just bought the 16-35mkII and had no idea how or what to use it for. It was quite a 'flaming' thread, funny yet interested nevertheless I must say hahaha.

but seriously, I already have an uncle who does this. I borrowed his 100-400 most of the time because he bought it to shoot at the annual airshow. I probably used it more times in 2 months than he did for the whole time he bought the lens wahahahahah. :P
