I really hope to see more equipment reviews from clubsnap. There is really not much lens reviews or camera reviews seen here. Most of my information was from luminous_landscape lah, dpreview or some other Chinese websites.

Lots of goodies with the 40D
1) Pentaprism - brighter viewfinder
2) 14 bit - better tonality
3) Changeable focusing screens!!!! Never thought they would do this for a prosumer but there you have it.
4) Weather sealed body - ok but not too essential for me
5) Electronic shutter when using live view - can I use this all the time and save on shutter wear??:dunno:
6) Better ISO noice control?? I hope they do up to 1600 with acceptable results... waiting for results to come in.
8) Auto ISO... hehee... good feature when I am lazy.
9) 3 user mode settings! This is a good feature - for me at least. I can customize for indoor, outdoor, action.... or for different lighting conditions.
10) ISO indicator in viewfinder... finally
Ok so far these are the things I noticed and like about the 40D. Seems to be quite hughe improvement.

It's diff from 'N's weather sealed cos only (as in Blue)
1-series is the way to go if want to have a weather sealed body in 'C'.

I am thinking that its the screen that you see in the viewfinder with the focus points can be changed to those split prism types (looks like 2 halves of a circle) which is good for manual focusing.
Yes, it can do focus with live preview and also take a shot with "silent shutter" (ie electronic shutter). Good for nature and bird lovers - and spies and investigators...:bsmilie:

Canon is offering the 40D at a good price, i think. Good for new buyers, i guess.
Here's what i thought is a reasonable early evaluation (altho premature) from Ken Rockwell: "In a lab, I'll bet you that the image quality of the Rebel XTi (aka 400D) is about the same as the 40D. The difference is that the 40D works faster, is built tougher, and the AF of the 40D ought to be more accurate and faster. Better AF can mean sharper pictures."
