Michael Reichmann's short review of 400D (and also the 50/1.2L and 70-200f4L IS):

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/rebel xti.shtml

Amazingly he asked ppl not to think of it as a review in the beginning:bsmilie: , however, the more I read the more like a review it seemed, although it was not very conclusive or convincing IMO.:)

YET still, almost bought me over to the 400D over the 30D...

Wait for review... dun need ba ... i got a budget, i'm a canon user. Of cause i will go for affordable can liao ... lol

Yeah, his "non-review" is quite convincing.

Definitely, but what if u have to do long exposures? IS can never replace the tripod.

Yes. that is a good point here.

A lot depends on one's prefered subjects.

I dun do long exposure or fireworks.

anyway, I saw the carbon-based tripod in HK for under $300...... tempting.....

How dare you say IS can never replace the tripod!?:bsmilie: Must be hopeful mah.

Still waiting for the day where I can make a 1 min exposure:sweat: with IS... :bsmilie:

Drain a lot of batteries !

Hi, anyone wondered or know where the dust will go to after being "shaken" off from the sensor in the 400D?

Hey good question! I didn't think of that. Imagine if it all builds up inside the body.

Maybe there's some slot that opens up to release it? :dunno:

Probably have a "tray" underneath to hold the dust particles, so when u hold the camera in a vertical position it goes back to the sensor again :bsmilie: …nar...probably there is an adhesive tray or something … otherwise they will come out with a special vacuum cleaner as an accessory :bsmilie: Wonder if there is any additiional maintenance for this feature?

According to Canon Singapore, the EOS 400D will be available on local shelves come September 8, with Singapore being the first in an Asia-wide rollout. The kit, which includes an 18-55mm lens, will retail at a recommended street price of S$1,669 (US$1,061.84). No updates have been given on when the camera body will be sold separately, or how much. Meanwhile, its predecessor, the EOS 350D, has been repriced to S$1,399.

Consumers in Singapore always get the raw deal. If the rrp is indeed as stated, it is almost US$200 more expensive than the USA list price.

Yes, I do know the smaller shops will offer lower prices. But canon products in singapore are always introduced at a higher (sometimes considerable) RRP than other markets.

i am thinking of getting the 400D during comex. what you all think?
