If you go by the 18 month cycle of Canon, you'd probably get a replacement of 5D first in Feb 2007, followed by the replacement of the 30D in Aug 2007.

Definitely, but what if u have to do long exposures? IS can never replace the tripod.

We may well see a new model in about 3 weeks ... possibly an EOS 1Ds mk3 , some say a EOS 1Dx as a replacement for both the 1D mk2n and the 1Ds mk3.

That said, there will probably be a price drop for most current models this next few weeks but when this new model is announced, no further adjustment. I say this because I am waiting to buy the 5D!

i was just checking some sample shots from canon.co.jp taken with the 400D. the EXIF data states that the picture was taken in late june. LOL.

Latest rumours (actually originating in singapore) say there will be a 1D mk3 in about 3 weeks time... that's the legend.
it will be full-frame, and 8fps ... replacing the interim model mk2n ...
but whether it will be 12.8mpix like the 5D or 16.7mpix like the 1Ds mk3 is also a guess.

It will still cost around $4800-$5500..
