interesting that the leaks started in Asia this time round :bsmilie:
I thought I saw the press release dated 24 Aug 2006. If so, then Australia is entitled to release the news first as they are one of the first country to cross into 24 Aug, followed by the rest of Asia. Then this is not a leak but official release. :bsmilie:

It has also been confirmed on the Singapore Canon website also... Sigh... shld have waited a bit longer to get this model instead of 350D

Is that all? Frankly, considering all the recent speculation, I'm underwhelmed...

US$799 for non kit version, should be roughly $1200 to $1400 (assuming promo price again)

its the same size as 350D, wish they make it slightly bigger for better grip

When did you buy your 350D?

There's never a perfect timing to buy hardware. With the rapid technological advancements and changes, a newer model may be introduced in less than 6 months from the previous model.

If one keeps waiting for the best time, best price, etc.. then can keep waiting and eventually never buy anything. YMMV. ;p

I am actually glad that the size is the same, can use back the same battery grip of 350D if I upgrade.. :bsmilie:

Want a bigger body can go for 30D, guess the price will drop after the announcement of 400D..

no IS sensor?:(

IS sensor like that on the A100 isn't very ahem friendly i think, heard bad comments from the A100 thread and friends

Well, dunno also, if got IS sensor then how to use IS lens?

Lens 3-4 stops + sensor 3-4 stops... you'd get to shoot fireworks handheld without need for support. ;p

hahaa... then tripod makers can close shop already..

If both body & lens got IS or AS feature, I think it's more likely that both will cancel out each other's effort & u will get back a blur picture.. :bsmilie:

IS consumes more battery when activated.

Look at how much Konica-Minolta or Sony (now) is generating in sales in their so called "AS" technology. From there, you wil know that Canon or even Nikon will not follow suit.

After all the wait, *this* is the birth of a legend? :bsmilie:
