File sizes are definitely larger than those found on the 1D.

A good example would be the 1Ds. On an average the RAW files start from 8MB to about 11MB depending on what ISO you are using.

On a 10D, the average file size for RAW is around 6MB to 8MB. So this is most logical that the file size be about 8MB to 10MB depending on the ISO setting on the camera.

congrats!!! heard you got the latest canon pro camera (1DMK2)....
hope to see real great pictures from you soon... :)

Not bad at all

Thanks, agape01.

I also heard that Metz 54 MZ3 Canon mount would not work with the 1DM2. Can anyone verify this? Thanks!

For Canon EOS-1D Mark II the RAW file is approximately 8.3 MB and EOS-1Ds is approximately 11.4 MB. The algorithm of the E-TTL II for the Mark II is certainly a vast improvement as compared to E-TTL of the previous models. However, with bigger enlargements, the EOS-1Ds still have an edge over details.

The high iso images from this camera are truly breathtaking. The noise granularity is small, even and not too blotchy, which I think can be fixed quite well by noise filters out there. I've tried a few iso3200 samples on the net and it looks pretty clean and useable to me after noise processing + ps. I'm speaking with regards to comparison made to D60 which I'm using right now. Argh ! ... must resist temptation. If it's not for the 1.3x cropping factor, I would've gotten it, or if the price point drops below 6K within a year, I'll overlook the 1.3x :)

Anyone else have tried the camera? Please share your comments..

Cheers,

Ahh... almost forgot the hidden cost....

But seriously, the camera is new and usually the first few batch is "buggy" right? Although I've not heard of this problem with the 1D or 1Ds, seems more towards the 300D/10D/D60 models.

Anyway, not like you can get the camera even if you want it. Seems like its on waiting list only isn't it?

Cheers,

Have just printed a picture to 24 x 30 and must say that the image quality is excellent. In my opinion, the EOS 1DS and EOS 1D Mk II are both excellent cameras producing excellent results although the price may be much higher than the 10D and the rest of the other 6 mega-pixel cameras.

i just went to a studio and tried their 1DMkII... Its really heavy with just a 70-200 f2.8 IS on board but is very sturdy like all the other 1 series cameras... When u press the shutter there is just a sense of achievement, until u see wat u took :P
