EM1 mk2 may feature 4K

But at a higher price than GH5 likely.
Which will you buy?

Hmm, what makes you think it will likely be higher? Haven't seen any GH5 price rumours to compare with...

With regard to the pricing of the new model I was told that despite the newer version being a huge improvement over the Mk1 there was no intention to increase the price significantly over the price of the EM1 – I would expect this to be with regard to pricing at launch – the EM1 being approximately £1300.00 (UK) at launch if I remember correctly.

Taking a look at past GH3/4 launch SRP, feels like will be on par, or perhaps the GH5 might be priced higher at launch, since there was a 30% increase from GH3 to GH4 (looking at US SRP, which is closer to ours I think).

Hoping not though! *Fingers crossed*

GH3 SRP: US$1300 / £1100
GH4 SRP: US$1700 / £1300

According to the rumor, the licensing fee for the 4K patent is set by Panasonic. It makes business sense to drive cost up for the competition especially when the EM1 is expected to launch also at Photokina.
But I think the complete feature set of GH5 will exceed the EM1 and may be priced higher than GH4 at launch for sure.

so, every camera that have 4K will have to pay $$$ to Panasonic ?

GH5 coming ... that's cool but that also mean my GH4 is old oredi ... :bsmilie:

I would consider staying on the M43 format if Gh5 has the fame 5 axis stabilization, improved low light, better DR and no increase launch price. Anything above $2k is going to get them in trouble when a6300 is only selling at $1400 and it's a really good hybrid crop frame camera with 4K but doesn't have stabilization.

The main issue of A6300 in video is the lack of an earphone jack for audio monitoring.
