You will be disappointed with this lens if you go FF ;)

As for distortion in gp photos.

As long you keep everyone along the center line and shoot dead on as opposed to an angle, the distortion is not so bad. By shooting down up or top down or at an extreme angle, will introduce distortion in almost all wide angle lens regardless.

Would love the 17-55mm f/2.8 too but I think it's going to cost a bomb, with f/2.8 and IS..

Actually, i do have both, 17-40 & 10-22 all canons'. Might replace the 17-40 if I get the new EFS 17-55mm f2.8.

You should try the 16-35mm f/2.8, then you'll realise how soft the 17-40mm f/4L actually is on the edges..

I love using the 17-40L on my film body, coupled with slides. The results are super wide and wow!!

Can my EOS 3 use EF 10-22?:)

Nope,it's an EF-S lens.Meant for 350D,20D,30D etc...Film camera is a no-no :nono:
I bought the 10-22mm last saturday & WOW! i didn't know what i was missing until i bought this lens! Photography is all about capturing the moment right? This lens is the widest i can shoot with my 30D so i don't wanna bother whether i can use this lens in the future If i upgrade to FF.I just wanna enjoy shooting with this lens for now! :bsmilie:

 why make yourself suffer and worry about FF (which for most pple is at least another 5 years down the road, maybe never). If you have a film body then that's different though..
