OT abit,

Eh.. Instead of making this kind of comments, perhaps you can inform us in more detail what happened, and why? It's kinda unfair if you just flat out say dont buy from so and so, they cheat, etc...

I've bought stuff from APS before and I find they are much better than one of the other shops I got cheated at.

Back on topic,
Does anyone else find that John 3:16 doesnt pick up their phones =\

Call Sam's HP(JO)..he always entertain phone calls! He's like chatting and serving people at the same time..but it doesn't really bothers me:bsmilie: And it's true the shop offers great customer's service and they are always friendly:D

Anyone tried shooting a concert with this lens? I understand the aperture is not big enough, but given that concerts forbid those big guns most of the time unless you're the official photographer, this is a smaller lens to sneak in.

I'm thinking that shooting in AI Servo with good enough lighting should be good, anyone actually tested out yet?

Feeling like it's overhyped.. Can photo quality compare with good old 70-300 IS?

done one yesterday at Esplanade...to me I think its ok....and no flash too

will do so tonight..sry...all pics at home..now "busy" at work....lol

Thanks thanks! Will be very helpful for my considerations :D

So far most comments I got is that it's not fast enough. Also, do post the settings too? I'm guessing it's a compromise between the aperture and shutter speed. No choice since it's night, with no flash.

i got this last month .. yet to try out due to studies.. man under using it, since nv use before.. waiting for concert in march and will see how it perform. but do note i am still a newbie photographer.

Well, while it's sharp after stopping down, it's NOT comparable to the 70-300 IS.

Overhyped? Maybe.. Depending on a person's judgement and personal bias.. Some can say kit lens better than L lens

Gets pretty good sharpness when stopped down. Vignetting issues, but resolved when stopped down. CA very minimal. Center sharpness is very good but not fantastic. IS works fine, and I've had no issues shooting wide open with this lens. Sharpness is still acceptable. Of course it can't be compared to the 70-200 F/4L wide open. Key thing about this lens is it's compactness and weight. Build quality is also good. Non metal mount, but I don't think this lens needs a metal mount. It's very well-built. Focusing speed is quick and relatively silent despite lack of USM. It hunts just a little bit in low light with my 400D. If you've got a 40D it might be a little better though.

Good for someone on a budget looking for an IS telephoto that can produce some good images. It's also a great travel lens. Pack this in with Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 and you've got quite an affordable combination. Overall rating? Decent. Not fantastic, but decent.

These people have never used an L lens then. But anyway I feel most people who comment on lenses don't know sh*t about them. I know too many people who shoot L lenses, Zeiss lenses, and top bodies like the D300 and yet produce mediocre crap on them. They are more like lens traders than photographers.......

I hold much, much more respect for people who make the most of what they have and continually improve their photography with what little they have... so that when they finally get the L lens they know exactly that it's what they need and want and proceed to make great images with them.

Sorry for ranting. I'm sure some of you share the same sentiments anyway.
