tested 2 canon 10-22mm and 2 tokina 11-16mm. in the end i chose tokina 11-16 due to the sharpness and color vibrant. no regret!

How much did u paid for ur tokina? I am aiming for tis lens too...

I would choose to go with the Canon lens for my Canon body whenever possible. This, i feel, will eliminate any possibility of incompatibility.

TOKINA ATX 11-16MM F2.8 is the best crop sensor ultra wide angle lens:thumbsup:

Morning, on the way to work. Legs were heavy, last night slept pretty late due to exam revision. Met the usual cat at the playground in the morning. 9.04am... OH NO! LATE FOR WORK!!! *Start running*

Those of you who own the Canon, do you find the lens hood of much use?

Yea. Its very good at protecting the lens rather then preventing flare. Because of the really short min focusing distance and the large area coverage, I often find myself shooting very close to the subject that im framing and occasionally I would actually bump into it due to the incorrect perceived distance you see from you to the object through the viewfinder. You feel further away from it then you actually are. So essentially what im trying to say is that the hood and a uv fiter has saved my 10-22 from several potentially damaging close calls.

For TS: Some shots with the 10-22. Im glad i toped up for it instead of the tokina.

Just curious... (as i have no photos taken by Tokina lens on the same location here to compare) what makes u think that paying the extra is worth it? Sorry for my noob question

i think tokina lens is the best for wide angle field.

10-22mm is equipped with 3ASPH and 1 UD to correct aberrations and it has good reviews.
60D with 10-22 is a good combination because their weights balance nicely.

i like the canon 10-22 lens withs its close focusing distance of 0.24m while tokina is at 0.3m.

Hi

May I know how much did you pay for the lens hood for canon 10-22? I am considering this lens but I heard the lens hood for this lens is quite ex..
Does the lens hood help with flare or its more for protecting the lens when you get too close to the subject? Cos the lens hood is really big and bulky to carry leh..

lens hood, think is $79(canon), $30 (third party)

I'm also using a 60D with the Tokina 11-16. I chose it because i wanted something really wide and sharp and well, a fixed f2.8 always is good if and when you ever need it. i chose it because it was never meant to be my primary lens and specifically only for landscapes if and when i need it…that's why i chose it after reading all the rave reviews about it

Some user go for brand instead of true fact.
