thanks... nola... i cant get useful opinions... whether to get which lens

So many people have commented and nothing is useful ?? This is so sad ..... :bheart:

its your $$, its your hobby, its your shooting habits, and frankly no one will know your situation better than you.

I love my 24-105mm though on another poll about 66% people prefer the 17-55mm. Does that make me lousy ? Not really because the lens fits my requirements / budget . Love it plenty. It may not be right for you for various reasons, nothing wrong as well. Certainly not wrong to get an unpopular lens, as long as it works for you.....

I have not gone to Cathy website for a while... time to disturb them... their prices are not really competitive... but if use installment, their competitiveness is there... One thing I like is CP have good service, and the shop is bright and you can test the lens properly....

Mr Cool.... I thought AP was not a good shop to buy from??? Anyway... I think it is ok, as long as you get a good deal....

So now, the hunt for camera is over... the hunt for subjects has just began!!!! ;p

It is my 1st time going to Alan Photo, went there for the price and recommended by a friend who is an old bird in photography industry. Anyway we are just passer-bys, so just buy what we need and just move on....

Are you buying the 60D? Or mind still floating?;)

60D is a great camera. I think that Canon did an excellent job with this camera and in the longer term it will have a better reputation than the 50D.

People have been saying that all their lenses are focusing perfectly with the 60D. Even with lenses that used to front or back focus on earlier Canon models. I have yet to hear of any complaints from this forum or from DPReview. Kind of makes micro adjust obsolete!

I am more likey to get the 60D.... no complaint about this... or rather... not much...

I like the grid in VF and the grip in the 7D more.... not a GPMG user so I am ok with 60D.... but the 7D could open another shooting style.... When holding 60D, my list finger is hanging in the air..... 7D is ok.... but will get a grip if go 60D...

With A550 spec so close to a 60D.... I think price drop is possible and with D7000 coming soon... 7D price could drop a bit too.... so it is a wait situation for me on this.

Does 60D have grid in VF??

Hmmm...I dun think there is a grid for the viewfinder but it is available for LiveView. Actually I also dunno how to use grid.....can only think of aligning architecture shots...

Oh... Grid is a guideline for alignment and to compose the picture.. It roughly tell you how many part of the frames is covered by the subject..... my friend Nikon have it so I enjoy that when doing composition.... very useful.....

Back to read more review on 60D and 7D for the VF grid...... This grid and 100% VF seems to be having strong influence on me....... have to think and see.....

one is F2.8 but wider and less range, another one is F4 and less wide with further range

depend on your need.

loan it and give it a try. We may give u many advises but u need to experience urself to see which one fits ur overall expectation. ;)

I currently use 60D with 24-105. Owned the 17-55 before. Frankly, nothing much to seperate these 2 in terms of AF speed and sharpness, but for me, I find the colours of the 24-105 to be better. It also suit my style of shooting more.

On a side note, if money is not an issue, I will buy both and use it for their respective purpose, though for me, the 24-105 will see more action than the 17-55. Not sure if anyone here do that, owning both

I use the 17-55 for the wide end which suits my style of shooting better on my crop camera. However, I will be in the market for a 24-105 soon to put on my 5D and replace the 28-135.

owned both at the same time before. ended using the 17-55 more as i shoot more indoors and low light. outdoors i rely on my 18-200 instead of 24-105..........

So far I have been happy with my EFS17-55 F/2.8 on my 60D, it is a great lens that gives sharp images. The lens is also performing well with my 400D when there is ample light. The downside of the lens will be the missing red ring which make this lens unable to migrate to a FF body in the future which I may or may not get. I am happy with the EFS 17-55.....no point thinking so much about the tech specs....it is just wasting time.....put the time into delivering good shots!!!

Currently, using both lens with 60D
17-55 , use for indoors. Pair with 580EX II, very happy with the results produce. Pic is sharp but the color, abit out, but still produce very nice pic.
24-105, use for outdoor. Like it's color production, pic is sharp too, but lose to 17-55. Cause it is weather-sealed, I dont need to rush for cover when start to rain.

this is good but i see a lot ppl selling in BNS. really tempting to get one...

i think no matter whether the lens is weathersealed or not, i will still run for cover when it rains. better be safe than sorry
