As for the menus, i only have to dive for WB. The ISO is all done in cam! Depends on usage la i guess

Anybody has any issue with E-M5 OLED screen ? My friend's has problem after shooting in the rain. The rest of the camera is fine.

Oled screen went blank, flicker, blank. Can still take photos with evf. The rest of the camera still working like normal.

Till now I'm afraid of shooting under the rain or drizzle. If there is only a way to check the seals. :dunno:

To be fair, I use it under drizzle before. No issue at all. The thing is, I don't know how much rain was there when my friend used it. Kinda hard to quantify these things.

i always bring a small towel in my bag whenever i go shoot. will place it on top of the camera if there any sudden rain or drizzle. or clean it asap.
it will come in handy.

But it seems some users do have problems with evf fogging after usage in rain..
Maybe some QC issues?

EVF fogging is a known issue even during pre-production testing as detailed by Robin Wong.
I personally didnt experience EVF fogging, but my friend whose OLED screen has issue, had his EVF fogged after the rain... but no issue after it dried up.

Can someone advise on why we need to specifically enter the focal length for autofocus? I realized that when I set to 50mm with the 7.5 the image keeps jumping so I dialed it down to 8mm. But does this setting of '8mm' affect other focal lengths then?

Not sure what you are talking about.... what lens are you using? what is 7.5 ?

In shooting menu 2, we are given choices of IS 1, IS 2 etc. If you press INFO in that screen you can then choose 'focal length'. I'm wondering what's the significance of this setting.

It was default at 50mm (I think) but when I use the Samyang 7.5mm, the IS causes the image on LCD to stutter and jump. When I got the lens, I was told to set the 'focal length' in the IS menu to 8mm which stopped the stuttering.

So what does changing this setting mean in the scheme of things? Should I keep it at 8mm or do I change the setting as I change the lens? And what's the point?

Olympus uses sensor shift IS mechanism, so the focal length determines at what speed the camera will activate IS and the magnitude. Typical rule of thumb, is 1/(FLx2) for hand hold shots. So if you use a 50mm lens, you should have at least 1/100s to be able handhold. If your speeds gets lower than that, the IS will start (I'm not sure how algorithm works exactly though the principle shouldn't be far off) with small movements and as the speed gets lower, the sensor shifts more to compensate for shakes. So it's it likely that at speeds as "high" as 1/30s with a 7.5mm fisheye lens will get shake as the sensor over-compensates, I encountered that before and then realized forgot change the focal length.

If you use native AF lenses, this setting won't come into effect. If you use on next manual focus lens that's greatly different from this, do change it to the nearest. If it's 50mm, set as 50mm.

Ah yes! Thanks for this. So if I only have that one manual focus lens, I can just leave the setting at 8mm yeah? When i mount the 25mm or 45mm there won't be any effects.

All m4/3 or 4/3 lens (with MMF2), the camera will adjust IS automatically to match the focal length.
Non 4/3 or m4/3 lens will need to be adjusted manually from there.

My OM-D survived a drizzle but it did not survive a fall..

Dropped it down a flight of stairs.. LCD cracked and evf not working..

Now undergoing resuscitation procedures..

Sigh..
