That is only with AF lenses that have manual focusing rings. For manual lenses there does not seem to be a default button or I can't find it. You can however configure it, my my case chose the video recording button since I almost never take videos.

loving the E-M5, but here are a few pet peeves:
- Auto ISO seems rather conservative ie. it rises very quickly to 1600 when i think the shot is easily makeable at 800 or lower, specially with the awesome IS
- wish the on/off switch was near the trigger like on the D7K. i can turn that on without looking and with just one hand while i'm gripping the camera. with the E-M5 you need to hold it in both hands to turn on or you'll risk accidentally dropping the camera. i think even with the battery grip it's risky with one hand since the thumb will have to go pretty low to reach the switch
- the super control panel takes a full second, maybe a bit more, to come on after flicking the switch. the good thing is that the EVF turns on faster, fast enough that it's just about ready by the time i have the camera to my face
- why can't i use touch on the control panel? touch works with playback and of course touch focusing, so why the heck not on the SCP? or maybe i missed a setting?
- i've lost a number of decisive moments with the LCD flipped up and then going blank just as i was to touch focus, because my finger got near the EVF sensor. i know the eye sensor can be disabled but i actually like it on automatic most of the time. ideally the camera should detect when the LCD is flipped up and automatically disable the eye sensor until the LCD is flipped down again
- i've set the front dial to change apertures, but the weird thing is that when in aperture mode it's counter-clockwise to increase aperture, but in art filter it's the reverse direction
- the focal length indicator only comes on when you're zooming. wish it was on all the time
- love the non-extending nature of the 12-50 but takes some getting used to. when i see something i wanted to shoot quickly i'm sometimes disoriented when i unexpectedly find i'm all zoomed in. guess i need to be more disciplined to set it back to wide after shooting. with other lenses, it's second nature since you have to collapse the lens after use
- the fn1 button is very quirky, specially if you set it to magnify. you need to tap it just the right way. press it too long, it doesn't respond. it, and the playback button, is also a bit too recessed in the body. i find myself using my thumbnail. can't wait for the battery grip so i can re-map the functions to the grip buttons

oh, and i just heard the hum this morning. never noticed it in the week i've had the camera with me. i can hear it at arm's length if the room is quiet enough, but i think the sound is easily drowned out even if in a church or museum. so non-issue.

so despite what i've listed above, i'm really loving the E-M5. i'm willing to work with its quirks and my D7K will likely stay home most of the time now, if not sold (maybe). the E-M5 is just so liberating to use. and this might sound petty, but i really missed the art filters while i was away with Nikon ;)

Scroogee - good user review! I hear some hum today but it only came on wn in lens macro mode. I will test it further. My guess is it occurs only in electronic zoom n macro mode. I think it is juz the lens reseting. And yes, i off the evf eye sensor.

Wait for EM-7 or EM-9 or you can use your nikon. :)

hmmm...
am i rite to say that some of u guyz hear the hummin sound when u hv the kit lense?
u dun notice it with other lense?

Yesh, the SCP. Why is it that I can't change the settings by touch. Have to use the arrow keys after selecting by touch. Hopefully a firmware update fixes this soon.

As for the auto EVF switching, it's annoying that the view keeps switching to the EVF when something comes into the proximity of the eye sensor. I've turned the auto switching off and use the EVF button to switch manually.

I still hear the whoosh sound with the PL25. I think it doesn't matter which lens is on. It's really not that loud, so not really bothered by it.

Hi all, a newbie em-5 owner here. All the little quirks and pet peeves have been posted already ... wanna add one of my own. I've been shooting at 9fps (fantastic speed) with the evf to catch some action shots continuously for 15 mins or so, pausing for occasional lcd reviews and sd card writes. Was surprised to find the evf display go all whitish ... half press shutter .. whitish evf goes away ... exposures came out ok but look thru it evf still goes all bright white. I suspect its the camera overheating due to non stop high fps exposures causing the evf to go haywire. Switch off the camera for a while restores things, not sure if this is normal

just collected the mmf3 adapter today... how much can it fetch?

I don't it worth penny for now, you need to wait at least 3-4 months later.
all existing PEN users who need MMF already have MMF-1 or MMF-2, all those pre-order OM-D will have MMF-3. Those got MMF-3 requirements maybe are those user after the pre order program.

Interesting. Have not encountered this but I have not used the 9fps function. If it occurs u shd bring it to Olympus service centre to check.

I sold mine on BnS within two days of listing it. You can find the price by searching for my thread in BnS forum.

There will be some demand for mmf3 adaptors by buyers of em5 who did not get it as a free gift. The other adaptors in the market are not weather sealed.

Dear new OMD owners,

Could anyone confirm if there is "black screen" in between shots when you shoot kept looking through looking at the EVF? If yes, please describe how significant or insignificant is the "delay"? Also, could it be caused by EVF sensor or you have some work around etc.?

Thanks! Kei

Only rangefinders and of hv no black outs. Even dslr have blackouts as the mirror flips. How much that blackout is on the omd is hard to quantify and time exactly bec it's too fast. Feels like a dslr to me except that it is evf. Some people may be more sensitive and perceive the delay as significant. To me, it is of no significance. Evf, Unlike dslr, what u see on evf IS wat u get not only in terms of composition, but also exposure and white balance.

Actually did you press half shutter you can continue shooting, don't have to wait for black screen, the files will continue to be saved while you can keep shooting. The shutter lag is pretty good i would say as compared to my EPL1 + VF2 or Ricoh GXR. Or maybe my requirements not that high:)

hi thanks, I don't own one and I have not actually tried it but hear say here and there. Did you do shoot for a few more shots in short intervals and is still ok?

yes. and i test with RAW+Large Superfine shots, and also test if i shoot burst for a few shots, same. Best if you can try it yourself. YMMV. As compared to EPL1, have to wait before buffer clears.
