Yes, my d7 is still working. I was actually very concerned about condensation and water seeping into the electronics, but thankfully I only had to make sure the lens is cleaned of condensation when I move between locations to shoot. Otherwise, electronics are still working as good as usual. :sweatsm:

Anyway, the rain in Scotland is not the downpour we are familiar with in Singapore, rather its just a bit heavier than a drizzle.

so were there any after effects from e cold weather??..
I mean after coming back to Singapore lahzz..

Hi,

Need not to worry, minoltians... even my Dynax5 survived last year, when I went to Scotland for 3 weeks and it was almost the same period as yeocolin.

Des...

I tot you only attack ladies :( .... I'm a guy anyway... do I disappoint you???

Kidding... ;p

White balance has been a great challenge in tricky lightings. So if only the D7D could have fetures superior to the WB systems nowadays......maybe like the RD175.....i would save up to get one.....

else.....the Dynax 7 and my A1 is fine for now......can be used for events covering....as i don't think I will convert directly to DIGITAL.....

The A1's filters(color) effect are really helpful.....

rgds,
me

Hi Sulhan, you mean RD175 has a good WB system? Seem some good pictures produced by this camera before.

Yah yah...I believe Colin is younger than me. Sorry, I don't go for younger guys ;p :blah:

England still uses the Pound Sterling.
1 SGD = .49 EU = .33 GBP (pounds) = .58 USD.

You have our crappy economy (and shitty president) to thank for the dollar being so low. : )

And hell, Viv, some of us live in the USA already. :p

Anyway, I need more resolution, less cropping (a 20mm is my favorite lens...) and a better way to archive my work before I switch to digital. But I've said that before :)

NOOOO! AAAARGGH! *makes gagging sounds* ;)

I intend to one day do a comparison between my RD-175 and a Dimage X (original model) to show how the latter beats the former

Seriously though -- the RD-175 has two points over the Dimage X. It uses Minolta SLR lenses, and it can be used with real flashes, including wireless operation with the 5400HS, something even the Dimage 7 and later cameras don't manage! :what: I think the X wins most other categories though :D

Hey Cool
another fellow RD175 user : )

Question, do you use the RD175 supplied grabber software
to convert the *.mdc to *.jpg ?
Is there any other utility that does this ?
with a possibility to massage the ?raw? format ?
I heard from someone thumbs6 supports *.mdc
but have not download to try yet

Yes, that's right, ThumbsPlus supports MDC but I don't know if it allows any tweaking. Maybe one could pester Dalibor Jelinek to add MDC support to his Minolta RAW converter, but I think chances are slim -- the RAW format is probably quite special due to the use of three CCDs in the RD-175 :(

I use the RD175grabber utility.

Hiee Dennis...
I have to thank Ratboy for "loaning" his RD175 and i had a real hands on trial of the shots taken and to my surprise...

The MRW(minolta raw) files from this cam could also be opened by the dimage viewer - very surprising.

I compared the shot "cleaniness" with the A1 out put and the images taken from the RD175 is an obvious winner. Its 3 CCD gives images better than the A1 bayer pattern imager.

I was soo happy with the images taken with the RD175 that i even gave Ratboy a stack of pictures taken with it to convince him that thae RD175....though large and bulky is good ......if you know how to appreciate it.

Its white balance is good too.

No frills camera.

sulhan

What is 3CCD? I saw it advertised for a Panasoic videocam as well....
