If you are getting the D90 with 18-105mm kit lens, the hood shd come with it. If you're getting it from HN or BD or some shops there shd be freebies like tripod, bag & 8g SD card. Can buy a spare batt for $25-30. A dry cabinet or a box is a must if you want to protect your investment for many years of usage. Use a Tokina UV filter less than $30(i think) to protect lens. That shd get you underway until the BBB virus catch up with you:devil:
