guys, i gotten my a350 with 18250 lens yesterday. happy.

First of all ... congrats !

as still new to dslr and a350, only thing i have not done is to blow/clean the mirror and sensor. as a350 cannot lock mirror, cannot blow sensor direct.

Please refer to page 32 and page 33 of your camera manual ... just make sure your battery is fully charged when your lock the mirror.

thanks bro!

me have same preference as you.went to one of the most reputable shops. i chose the best set (box condition, cam no physical scratch with stock factory foam/bag tight packaging) and checked almost everything

my experience was kinda sueh, after playing with demo unit, went on to get a new set
- took 1 set of best box condition, fix on new lens and pre prepared battery to check dead pixel. NB, kenna 1 dead pixel
- took 2nd set, lo and behold, camera had no body cap. retail assistant also too paisey and even 'suan' the sony product manager who happened to be around
- took 3rd and last set with abit terok box, check dead pixel and live view, ovf, thought ok. paid and left for home

went home and after experimentation, discover that faint speck. next day (today) call retailer and was told to bring down the unit. at the shop, one assistant showed me the sensor (wow quite a few dust speck inside). spent a good 30min cleaning but still left with 2 specks inside. bo bian, assistant also paisey and got me a new set. this time, we used the sensor inspection tool(light ring device) to check sensor, no dust.

overall, my experience was slight demoralised by product quality, but was compensated by retailer's customer service.

to prevent misconception against shop i went to, i shall not mention shop name. but all i can say is, this shop is great and has been very forth coming in dealing with post sales issues. my new set seems ok so far.

Firtsly, where did you get your set from? Didn't you check before paying for the set at the shop? Also, I hope you didn't got sold a Diplay or Demo unit... some uncouth dealers tend to do this.
My purchases are only confirmed once I see that the box seal was not broken on lenses, and for camera bodies, I pay special attentio to the way the foam bag that wraps the body is folded. If I see fingerprints or dust particles on any part of thr unit, I reject outright. Even the box I will not tolerate any kind of crease, scratch, dents, or signs of having been opened before.
I am no easy customer, but I spend a lot per visit.

Curious.. how do you check for the 1 dead pixel in the shop? Do they have a while & black backdrop for testing?

thanks bro!

Hi Jammer,

congrats in getting your new cam & welcome on board the Alpha camp. As bro Rashkae mentioned the Sony Workshop is pretty useful and it would be good to learn the basics. But I would suggest that you do a bit of reading up and understand the relationship between Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO first.

Looking forward to see your works and hope to see you in our outings soon. ;)

Depends on your needs. Shoot more first, then buy lenses only if you need them for your chosen type of photography.

oh i see...i tried shooting during the motogp weekend but with the 200mm lens, cant achieve enough close-up of the bikes.

Then you either need a 300mm, or you need to learn how to crop. :)

hi, can anyone advise why the a350 live view motion speed is tad slow? TIA
