Dressing up a D90

If it makes you happy, why not?
I wish they make the same thing for Nikon FM series

I've been watching this thread for quite sometime... but resisted to comment until now as it really is a personal thing. One thing that has been bugging me to ask is this, would it really make your equipment much pricer when you decide to sell it? Or the direct opposite? Some people may prefer the second hand equipment as original as possible... right..or wrong? Frankly, I find the reflective materials too garish for my taste (no offense okay? my own two cents)... :bsmilie: An analogy: how often do you see street Ferraris or Lamborghinis covered with HUGE SPONSOR stickers?

Forget what I've said if I'm talking rubbish, and that you intend to keep your set and pass them down to your great-grand son. Hell, it is your equipment, feel free to pimp them up all you like! :sweatsm: Sorry hor, if I offended anyone... My intended message to is to say don't do something that you'll regret later...

Not everyone buy an equipment prepare themselves to sell it away in future.

I still have my old compact point and shoot, my 3yrs old Casio Exilim and a 2 yr old Canon lying somewhere around my house.

If there are something in the market that can dress up my D90 and when I stick it on, I am happy.. that euphoric moment cannot be replace. I like the feeling of having new items, and new things that excite me along the way. This includes iphone covers.. etc. IT made me happy. That is the main point.

If there is ever a time I need to sell away my second hand equipment, can the money replace the above moment? NO. Whether my camera gets a good resale price or not, it will not make me happier anyway.

Everyone is different.

I like to spend and make myself happy.

I cannot understand why people like to buy something and keep on thinking about reselling it.

Others cannot understand why I am this way also.

In life, there is no need to teach people what to do with their decision and money. Unless they are using yours.

+1. if it is always about reselling value, then buying camera/lenses is a wrong move. .

I though it's just a sticker, just remove it if the buyer doesn't want it :)

Hi Edson,

Clearly I was addressing a different crowd than yours. Actually, I'm pretty much like you - one who would keep using their equipment until they break down (or not). Did I mentioned that I did resisted to comment on this? :) When I chose to say something I know I'll be automatically branded a busy-body / a "kay-poh", and would draw unfavourable criticisms - like "mind your own business". That's just me perhaps. :bsmilie:

There are probably a million reasons why people might sell their equipment but I'll just list a few:
1) one could be in dire financial straits suddenly? Selling their equipments might bring them urgent cash? And note that people in this category might actually be the ones who have never really considered selling their pride and joy?
2) people who constantly like to upgrade their equipment but do not have abundant cash to do so, or chose to limit their expenditure by reselling their own equipment to finance the upgrade set?
3) people who after a long period of hiatus decided that they may not have the time to dwell in their favourite hobby and ending up with a white elephant?
4) etc, etc, etc...

I can understand why you don't understand, because the most of us lived in the perfect world we tried to create for ourselves (me included of course).

Actually, in life there are plenty of people (not all of course) who may (appreciate or not the) need to be reminded of how they need to be careful with their spending or choices by "kay-poh" people or organisations (govt?). Normally, I don't open my mouth but if I see my friends doing something at the spur of the moment that's clearly not in their best interest, I'd voice my thoughts purely out of concern, friendship and maybe in the name of community spirit. Chances are, I'd have to be prepared to face the incoming wraths especially if they are not prepared for my comments. Surely I don't have to give you examples of the above? Maybe that's why a lot of people are overcharging their credit cards unwittingly or unknowningly? Nobody likes to be told on how they should spend their own money. That I agree, and I'm not doing it anyway that's why I have included a slew of rhetorical questions in my original comments, hoping that those are doing it at the spur of the moment might hestitate a bit, think for a moment, and decide what's best. They might still carry on with the idea, but at least they would have already thought it through (despite my irritating "busy-body" remarks). On the other hand, for those who suddenly realised that they might be pulled into something that might have an undesirable effect in the long run, I'd consider that as at least I've "knocked" some sense into them... would that be okay? :bsmilie:

No hard feelings, please by all counts don't let me spoil you further from enjoying your euphoric moments! And lastly, sorry to have rained on your parade.

Hi there,

In my business, I released a slew of stickers probably similar to those (mirror reflective vinyl ones) but for a different purpose. Chances are, they are meant for permanency and given a coat of permanent adhesive underneathe (so that they don't easily fall off after application). After a long period, if you try to remove it - there would be remnants of sticky residue which might require some strong chemical to remove it. Of course, I don't know if all vinyl stickers would require that, but would you risk it?

Anyway, feel free to go ahead. I don't want to dictate how you should spend your money, okay? :-)

Especially if the adhesive is not latex based, and it is adhered to a PVC material, chemical reaction will happen and you will get this sticky goo residue.

Yes, my family is also in the sticker business for decades. We even import the famous "carbon fiber" that everyone seems to wrap everything under the sun with.

Personally, I prefer everything stock. Not a believer in "zhng-ing" my stuff, even though I can get everything free or at cost.

Say, Carbon Fiber?? Auto or Bike related business?? :D Nevermind LOL, you're not obligated to reveal anything that's too personal.

Not really leh, unless you enjoy getting into the firing line for offering unsolicited comments...

I've always tried to keep a friendly disposition as much as possible... :bsmilie:

Anyway, like you've said, as long as we all happy.

i would say to each of his/her own, especially her. :bsmilie:

Can someone show a pic of the whole D90 after it's been modified? I'm kind of wondering how it looks now ;p

wa very bling bling indeed..

Interested in getting it.. Anyone know where to get them and how much it cost? TIA~

hi, i think i just put up something to share with people, and got so much comments, or should i say "arguement". I think there's no big deals on all these, if any of you not happy about the sticking, if u getting the second hand camera, you can don't buy it.
There are alot more people, trying to decorate their gadgets. It's just a gadget that cost <2k, not those car that cost a few millions!

Think, how about people who tape their lenses, protect it? or have some decorations? I believe it's both!
