Does Olympus services lenses locally

I thought that I have to update all who have read this to be fair to Panasonic. There's a Happy Ending to this story..

After I made my feelings known with this thread, Zan82 contacted me and helped link me to the Panasonic Customer Service Manager, Desmond. I explained my situation to him and the point that I was willing to pay for the service, but not at $300-$400, rather at a reasonable price.

He discussed with Management and came back with a solution. Panasonic was willing to ship my Lens back to Japan for cleaning etc at just the standard services. S$60. They waived the transport / handling costs etc..

So I agreed and sent my lens into Panasonic last week. Today I picked up the lens and I had a big surprise!! :bigeyes:
They decided to give me a 1 to 1 replacement instead. :thumbsup: A totally new unit ! WOW.. that was totally exceptional service :bsmilie:

So thanks to Panasonic !!! I had also told Zan82 before CNY that I was surprised with the effort they were going through so much that I decided to invest in the 20mm f1.7 lens !!

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Wah! Dust in lens = 1 for 1 exchange?!

The cost price of lens is definitely lower than cost to send it back to japan, so I'm not surprised that they chose to do a 1-for-1.

But it's only dust!!!! My brain just exploded....time to check my 20mm/f1.7 for dust...

But seriously, this is a good example of a manufacturer that is serious about responding to customer's problems proactively.

Just by offering a decent solution ($60 service fee for cleaning vs $300) is something all the local service centres can learn something from panny.
