Does anyone use "live view" for dslr?

my cam got no live view, but i think live view only useful when I pass my cam to someone else (who never use SLR before) to help take photo

but i thought when we shoot using live view we have to press the "af" button instead of just half press? wouldnt that make it more complicated?

or is there anyway we can set half press as focusing? because i cant seem to do that...

u should try these,

The best camera with live view I've ever use,
it is fast, half press to focus lock and got a lot of feature with the live view inside

You're gonna love this camera if you use live view a lot :bsmilie:

Live view doesn't always work. What's the point of live view when you can't see anything on your screen because the sun is behind your back?:bsmilie: . In any case i mainly use live view when im on tripod at night or fine tuning manual focus. Many others use live view the same way i think

hi all,

i'm the thread starter LOL, and now i'm back to comment on my topic. well, previously i dont use dslr, thats y i asked that question. hmm after using it i must say that i hardly touch the "live view" function, probably because i get pretty fast used to seeing through the viewfinder. but then when taking nite shoots, this is when "live view" comes into play. very convenient and u dont have to bend and look through ur view finder, but the most of the time i forget that there is a "live view" function also lolx.

anyway "live view" is pretty cool in that u can just leave ur camera on the table, and do shootings looking at the lcd. so u can be a stalker hahahaha! kidding. but its pretty useful.

Yep, useful but definitely not a must ;)

Sorry for digging up an old thread, for not letting it go, for being such a pain in the a**.

But you'll find some well respected landscape photographers (e.g. gdanmitchell) who totally use live view for their landscape shots: http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/889786/0

As for those ignorant clowns (mind you, SENIOR members of this site... and non-Canon users) who laughed at me: how does the crow taste now? Honestly I still cannot understand how some of you can be so ignorant about the technology you have in your hands. Pfffft...

i am not here to pin point at any one, but with the latest cam body that we have, we really have to use to the fullest, i just read from the guide book that you can do SO MUCH using live view, esp on landscaping, you can position the cam you might not able to read the info panel on top, then using LV you can adjust the white balance, ISO, adjust picture style, ajust f stop, check on grid, etc, thereafter, you can the "idea" pic that you intend to click, you get a nice photo, before i shoot, then check the picture then adjust setting again, lucky my gf enjoyed taking photo with, but when she promote to wife, i wonder will she still so patience.

but only think using LV without tripod may caused shaking...
