:)

if he takes photos with his cam then he is a photographer liao le
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photographer

he could be a bad photographer or a good photographer but he is still a photographer... haha:bsmilie:

This is a typical question just like asking can chef cook better with expensive pots and pans?

And there can ONLY be 2 answers; YES & NOT NECESSARILY.
YES: Better equipped means more and better ammo - higher killing rate.
NOT NECESSARILY: Not everyone is (equally) intelligent.

The photographer creates the photo, not the camera. However a DSLR gives you more advantages. Just my 2 cents worth. :)

HI everyone

I dont know where to ask/post this question up, so I post here ok?

I just bought a Digital SLR Camera (a cheap one to learn).....cause I love Minolta SLR (because of it's weight - it's heavy) But I do not know to use this very Manual SLR (using flims type - eg SRT 100, 101, 201,202,330B) and I bought the Flash (The old type using Bulbs & the newer type - all minolta) and (quite a lot of Rokkor lens) - - - When I hold the camera it;s heavy so I buy & buy - but never taken a single shot from these Camera cause I dunno how to use them - I just like the feel of it.....sound funny but true. but I know they are in great condition....I even have all the Mercury Varta Battery.

Then I asked myself - I wanna learn how to use them...so I went into the INternet to look for schools to teach me (which I have not enrol as yet) - The Instructor spoke to me over the phone....saying If I attend the class (I better Buy a Digital SLR Camera) - The reasons is because everyone there learning will be using Digital and if I use Manual I will be the only one....Also If I can operate a Digital SLR I will sure be able to operate a Manual SLR - because Digital has so maNY more function which a Manual Camera dont have.....

So I bought a 2nd-hand Cannon Digital Camera from my friend's husband...and now I am here.

This thread ask - Does a DSLR make a better Photographer (NO for sure - it's the Camerman Skills) - I went to a shop -The guy took some pictures very very nice with my DSLR, I took same picture but what a world of difference...I think he just know what button to press press on the camera before taking picture ??...maybe//I dunno.

PS: - Tell you all something very funny here. After I got the Digital Camera, I went to buy a 2nd-hand (the thing that you mount on the Camera Base so I can put 2 Batteries - what grip something like that) - - Shop ask me why buy this - I said "because I want my Camera to look bigger abit and heavier abit, got style abit mah and he laugh...Then he said my Camera Stock Lens (the lens that come with the camera) is call a Camera-Lens-Cover...no use one lah, these are not call lens......I mean I understand he means to say - must buy better lens than can take better pictures....the one I had is Plastic lah ...Hahahahaha so funny lah ...He is a nice chap...

butdoes a Digital SLR Camera sure take better pictures than a Manual SLR Camera ?

Regards

Eric

:bigeyes::bigeyes::bigeyes:

you bought a battery grip

to make your camera "bigger, heavier and got style"

well done la.. actually you wrong already, you want your camera to be that, get this:

canon-telephoto-lenses.jpg

a lot bigger, a lot heavier, and a lot of people will kowtow to you even if you don't take pictures with it.. the lens itself look like a dslr with all those knobs and switches. in fact, you can just walk around brandishing the lens, it will be bigger, heavier and more stylish than many dslr with kit lens and battery grip. :bsmilie:

i think first impression counts too, if you're on a paid assignment.

Yes indeed - A photographer is judge not on How Big A Gear/Equipment He Is Carrying but By His Works....100% True & Correct is this statement.

But to me (not being a Professional here) just a Layman Hobbyists - A big camera will stunt all the cha-bo I've around me (cause they are not photographer) - so make me macham Stylo-Milo like that Hehehehehe ! - Then I say "Hey you ... stand further a little bit to your left there can or not har? - then pattern come out macham expert like that me " hehehe - you all call this "Composition right?. I think most chicks will not use big camera and knows lttle about Photography (cause they like to carry small little compact camera - easy for them to put in the Bag for convenience sake) --so here I can bluff abit ...hahahaha like Professional like that - which actually I'm not.

If they ask to see the pics "I say - see what see?" then I go home download into my computer - make picture sharp sharp then give them ... if not nice - I go make it into Black & White...Kekekeke - like that also can what...correct?. If they ask me "How come Blurr lah here" - then I say "Told you already this is call Composition - I purposely make it like that one" ....

S:- Wah that lens is very big lah like Bazooka like that - I dont dare to carry out - even if I dare - It will cost me a Bomb - must be very very expensive man.

let me give it a try

1) anybody who takes photograph is a photographer (is there another word for that?).

2) newbie uses slr can review the photo on the spot, so out of 36 exposure in a single outing, print all 4r, maybe 50% are correctly correctly exposed.

3) that newbie also use dslr, which can review can review on the spot, bad exposure can be corrected. in the same outing, print 36 similar photos as in (2), now 100% correctly exposed.

4) composition assuming the same since same person.

5) he shows both sets of photos to friends, will the friends thinks that dslr makes him a better photographer?

You can post in Newbie corner.

The camera, whether digital or film, is a tool to capture an image. The media is film or digital or whatever it is. You need to learn about the art of photography, the basics of composition, lighting, etc and also to learn how to operate the camera.

DSLR do not take better pictures than any other camera. It is the photographer, not the tool. Digital format just allows you to review much faster, and then adjust your next shot accordingly, so you could actually reshoot instantly.

In your case, if you are interested in film, I think they should be some courses out there for film photography. you also need to play around with your camera to get to know its function.
