I find both Tamron and Sigma very reputable. Tokina has fewer users.

Tamron, just my personal preference.

tamron is good. Their lenses seldom disappoint

Just bought the Sigma 50mm f1.4 EX DG HSM lens at the IT Exhibition.

This lens is even more expensive that the Nikon equivalent and has good reviews, even though there is some talk about front/back focusing problems.

I hope to make good use of it.

Third party for me, though I'll get a Nikkor when I can afford it. I'd much rather have the focal length or wide aperture first at a small sacrifice in quality. I can always sell them in the future. Lenses do have good resale value after all, so the slight loss is worth it if I can get the kinds of pictures I want that much earlier.

Yes, Tamron. However, have to look for a sharp copy...have rejected 3 but found one good one, the 28-300mm VC lens for Nikon; the 18-270mm VC lens for Canon, also good.

Hmmm. How about a spin?

Sigma original. Tokina original, Tamron Original....

3rd party lens like fake Nikon. fake Sigma. fake Tamron... etc...

LOL just jokin.

I would like to buy Sigma, but I am always afraid that when a new body comes into the market, it would have compatiability issues; like what happened to my Sigma EF500 flash.

i use canon lenses where possible but im not adverse to using 3rd party lens.

so far, i have used a sigma 30mm f1.4 which is awesome

but for now, my entire lineup are L lenses. im a bit of a sucka ;)

Almost all review for Sigma 50mm f/1.4 are better than Nikon and Canon 50mm f/1.4. Will be getting my Sigma 50mm f/1.4 tomorrow :D

Yup, I agree with you. Sigma always has this backward compatibility issue. It happens to a couple of Sigma lenses that i had in the past too.The Rechipping that they provide will easily set you back by $200+. I got rid of them and are staying clear of Sigma this days.
I prefer Tokina, even an old Tokina 20-35 that I still have is compatible with my latest 5D MKII. My Tokina 10-17 FE works a treat on my 20D too.
Not to forget, they are built like tank. Perhaps the only disadvantage I find with them is their focusing speed isn't as quick as the Canon lenses.

My setup used to be all Ls. Now i'm just going to keep one and change the rest to 3rd party.

due to certain limitation of 4/3 lens lineup, I use some 3rd party.
