But I think there bound to have some differences in term of quality. ;p

Hmm ... I is using Canon, so on Canon, the 3rd party lenses I probably can use, among others are ...

Leitz, Angeniux (sp), CY Carl Zeiss, Voightlanders, Rolleis, Schneiders, Rodenstocks, Zuikos, Super Takumars, Nikkors, Zeiss ZFs ...

Hehehehe ... no guessing results liao. 3rd party lenses are REALLY CRAP! :bsmilie:

Any lens... as long as it satisfy:

1. Needs
2. Budget

I am Canon 50D user, using mostly EF-S lens and some EF lens. So Far the only 3rd party len i used is Tokina 10-17mm Fisheye Zoom. The only lens that has the curvature effect which i need on the Crop camera.

Same here. The only 3rd party lens i have is the Tamron 90mm Macro. Figure out that i will be using less than 5% in my shoots and not worthwhile to spend couple of hundreds more to get similar macro lens from my camera maker so go with 3rd party.

Other than that, i do consider 3rd party lens like Sigma's 12-24 UWA since no other lens maker produced such lens like Sigma did.

To me, all lenses has their own pro and cons... usually i'll get one that's base on a few factors; 1) My needs, 2) My Budget & 3) Reviews & feedback from websites/forums...

so far i've been using Canon, Tamron and Sigma. Satisfied so far! :)

I am using two 3rd party lens due to budget constraints and quite happy with them.I am now eyeing on the Tamron 90mm Macro because I heard that it is very good.

i also using 3rd party lens too, cause 3rd party is cheap and good enough
Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 macro HSM is not bad for my D300:D:D

No, 3rd party lenses are NOT necessarily crap but I use and buy only original lenses whenever possible.

i prefer silence focusing.

How about:

I only use 3rd party lenses. They may not be as good as original lenses but they are cheaper and good enough.

I only use 3rd party lenses. They are better than original lenses.

I don't use lenses. I spent too much on my whizz bang bells and whistles camera so I can't afford a similar lens full of bells and whistles so I rather not use a cheap lens, 3rd party or original.

ditto. and add one more:
I use 3rd party lenses as they are CHEAPER and quality is BETTER than original.

I finally jumped back to 3rd party after some time. Overall performance though no match for my Ls. But for that price, it's bang-for-the-buck. :)

It doesn't matter if its original or third-party. I'm fine with it as long as I get the picture I want.

3rd Party lenses are fantastic becos they're cheaper.
