"If you do not litter, you don't have to pick them.."

Yes we litter and we need foreign workers to sweep and clean our estate else they would not have anything to do.

We create job for them...

Seen on a friend's Facebook account, pretty much also describes me quite accurately AT TIMES...

I Singaporean. I hoard. Used tissues and other small rubbish in my pockets and walk ten thousand miles with my trash until i spot a bin. But i can flick my cigarette butt out so far and fast, you wouldn't even notice i did.

I find this very disturbing. Singapore is getting dirtier but I am not sure it is due to Singaporean or FT or visitors. I travel to Bangkok last year and now am in Spain, I witnessed youngster picking up all their stuff after their meal and the place is clean! I see less of this back home now.

In the excuse of terrorist, we removed many bins. You see them in Spain almost everywhere. (At least where tourists go). Side track a bit, most office buildings in CBD installed the security turnstile, you go to New York, this is not happening there! So we somehow 'copy cat' or do things blindly.

we have to learn from Taiwan . i went to their night market. it was crowded. there were only a few bins as rubbish collection and removal is privatised .

there was no rubbish on the floor despite the scarcity of bins . why? because no one littered!

Singaporeans rarely have to clean up their own mess. for those who have domestic workers even the cleaning at home is transparent to them

agree, Taiwanese attitudes about cleanliness has taken a total positive attitude change over the last 20 years ......

ditto for Japan too ..... the country (old or modern areas and out of sight back alleys ) is just spotless ..... and no army of cleaners anywhere

I just wish bicycles are parked properly in Sg ..... they are just an eyesore nowadays randomly chained all over the place

For ten years(from pri one to sec four), we were told to return the empy tray, plates etc to designated area at the school canteen.

Just look at our food centre?

The population of the proud Singapore is getting bigger and the diversity is getting complex.

You can see places with collection of complex diversity gets the most rubbish on the floor.

You couldn't identify which part of diversity who threw those rubbish because either you don't see them or they have the same characteristics, it may be beige, black, white and brown. Unless otherwise when they open their mouth

I do not litter in Singapore, when I got rubbish/trash I patiently put that into my pocket and wait 'till found a green rubbish/trash bin. But sometime we are forgetting things, especially when we got rubbish that less is than a centimeter or a transparent object with less that centimeter

Singaporeans too used to being "policed". When there's no one to control us, give us orders, fine us, all the crap starts to emerge again.

Real problem? Lack of moral & civics education from day one. Both parents & teachers are at fault, because most of both groups don't have any real civics/morals anyway.

I thought Singapore was fine, until I went to Japan. The world literally turned upside down. We are half a century backwards in some things really.

I empty it every day in a right place where trash bin are located.

I do only have expensive photography skills which i aquired through shooting more often.
