Matt for me :) The last time my client request for glossy print and she ended up with sticky photos distributed to her friends. Some even damaged. Maybe Singapore's humidity also plays a part in the photo's durability.

I prefer matt myself but for pictures 5R and larger they only offer gloss.

I used to print gloss last time, lately changed to matt as I find it looks more natural plus it wun easily be smudged or scratched..

HUH! Is it true that glossy's quality is better! I've been told matte is better... oh my. the horrors.......................

Much brighter and stronger contrast. But good luck on the keeping as well as the fingermarks

i prefer matte....
Dun like it when my photos got stuck to each other... ;)

still torn between matte n glossy... but most of the time will print in glossy...

btw, any idea hw 2 get rid of the fingerprints on a glossy foto?:dunno:

was just about to send my images for print. oh my... im even more confused now :bsmilie:
damn i hate the stick issue with glossy but then again i love the colors.

arhg!!

Matte for me easy to maintain

mostly prefer matte but it really depends on the pic n wat im using it for.

Matte. It looks good at all angle, nice to touch, and no fingermarks. I used Matte to submit my competition shots too.;)

If Fuji - Matt cause Fuji's Matt is of high contrast and vibrancy

If Kodak Royal - Glossy

If 8R print- go for Kodak as it prints out 400 DPI in comparison with Fuji's 300 DPI. Correct me if I am wrong on this fact. Interesting thing is Kodak Matt on 4R and 8R is of a different material. Kodak's 8R paper is of the almost the same contrast and vibrancy like Fuji.

For color photos, I print about 80% of them on matte paper & the rest on glossy paper. I like lustre finish too actually, but unfortunately I haven't found a good lab that offers it.
B&W photos (printed in darkroom): mostly glossy paper, sometimes satin.

Use Zippo fluid on a soft cloth and wipe them off. Try on an unwanted photo first just in case.

I prefer Matt... although the colour may not be so vibrant.... but it doesn't have finger prints left behind and most importantly does not reflect the light when you hang on the wall... More natural to the eyes in my opinion.

I tend to print my photos in Matt too for the reasons most of the guys above stated.

Actually any difference in image quality other than one is more shiny and sticky than the other?

I like glossy print as it looks better.

Glossy prints have the visual impact, but they tend to stick on albums. Anyway, i think as long as the photo is excellent in various aspects, it will turn out fine in both matt and glossy. But its true that matt last longer. My parent's matt photos are kept for 20 years and the colours are still quite nice, although inevitably they turn slightly yellowish.
