sad to say... I agree wholeheartedly...
I actually bought another pair of earphones a couple of weeks ago, coz I don't like the way that the Apple ones fit in my ear... but sadly, I also bought a white pair, coz the alternative colour was :ipuke:

I liked one of the Sennheiser models, but that was like TT SW price, and I don't use the earphones much...
edit: was using a pair of Creative earphones for quite some time (support local company!)... but the outer surface of the cable started getting sticky. Probably material degradation due to age (about 4 years).

Sennheiser has a lot of good models but the price just makes u think twice before buying. Bose and sony also has some good ones. I gave up on wires connected to my iphone, keeps snagging on different things (even got caught on my knee once when i stood up)

sony one good! got mine think >5 yrs ago, now turned abit greyish haha but still very usable and no sticky stuff..

i have a sony ericsson stereo bluetooth one for taking calls whilst driving, but the audio quality over the bluetooth connection isn't what I would call..... tolerable...
