Can wait a bit see if can feel the material locally or not? I soooo kena poisoned by TT (thanks to peeps here) that I can doubt Kata's workmanship liao... :sweat: Haha, no offence... tomorrow I go see if can molest Kata's offering or not... I dun think TK has it, coz they didn't recommend me one...Only TT's...

My thinking is this...

raincoat... how good does it need to be? will you be shooting under that wet a condition all the time? or once in a while? and super heavy downpour will you even shoot at all?

That is my line of thought and I ended up with a cheap and good solution.

If I am a nat geo photographer shooting in the rainforest for months, I will get the hydrophobia without hesitation.

It works. Tested. I mean, it is not rocket science. If the chinese can make raincoats for people, how hard is it to make raincoats for cameras... ;)

Bro, if you're coming tomorrow, can you bring it along for a mini-molest session? ;) :bsmilie: I know I know, I can be a PITA at times...:bsmilie:

DD123, a website show that the CAPA rain cover (same picture as what you put up) can also accomodate a flash unit.. correct? [sorry.. there are two version, support or dont support flash unit - my mistake]

Does it have two layer (inner waterproof layer).. or cant expect dual-layer since it is less than 30 dollars?

I am not sure if I can make it in time because tomorrow is a big day with a couple of big launches going in... not sure if issues will crop up...

I understand where you're coming from... :) For me, it's this - it is an added insurance... Even if I don't get to use it often or at all, I'll have it when I really need it... As in the case for Formula 1 races... they will not postpone/stop unless the rain is really torrential where clear vision is affected. Heavy rain sometimes are not considered torrential, nevertheless still heavy... There has been cases during heavy rain, they still proceed with it...

No worries, won't put any obligation on you to do it. :) Only a "just-in-case" measure. If you forget also no problem, okay? ;)

Yes I understand.

And my camera body is weather sealed... while yours is not.

One thing to note though.. sg rain is never long lasting... and are you shooting as a job or hobby? There is always the next day... there is always the next year.

Precisely! ;) Unless I managed to upgrade to a pro-level weather-sealed body before all the events, I have to fall back on such (mundane but necessary) measures...

I want to train myself up as if going for a job... If it works out, I'm going for it all... not just for Sg... But you gotta start somewhere...

ok... if you are planning to go into paying jobs in the future...

then get a hydrophobia.

ANd also consider getting a fast camera...
DX = D300s
FX = at least a D3.

Yes, D300s or replacement (that is why I'm waiting) is on my list. As for FX, not so soon... D700 replacement + battery pack for added FPS is another consideration...

For sports D700 not fast enough.

Wah... sounds back-breaking :sweat:
If you're sure, go for it!! :)

5 FPS right? But 8 FPS if you use battery pack... Or are you refering to other features that is not adequate for sports? Pls enlighten me...

If D700 (or replacement) not fast enough I rather stick to D300S (or replacement) for added crop range.

speed of focusing not there... compared to D3 series.
