Now, as usual, thinking about 'upgrade'.
Listening to too many ppl:
Some say use 35mm prime enough already.
Another said get the 17-55/2.8 then "don't need any other lens".

wah, I also dunno how to advise...
was trying to inject some 'UWA poison', but she (female friend) complain heavy la.
Sigh... dunno how to advise...

i can advise, get a few primes, thats the best bet, tell her it will bring the model in her, the sharpness, the bokeh will help complement and bring the aura out... hahahahahah

She bought a 500D kit after playing around with one of those canon superzooms (I think S5 IS).

Ask her one thing, is she serious about photography? If yes, weight is not a concern... (give her a stern stern face)... :bsmilie:

I told her "you can't have everything in this world" and she looked away embarrassed.
But I suspect she's being impulsive instead of really exploring the limits of the kit lens. Heard that Canon's 18-55 is pretty darn sharp, especially in good light.

actually i dunno how heavy is the 11-16 durian, but i suspect its abt the same as 18-105 kit lens.. but i dun mind the weight la.. if too heavy, pass it over to hubbs lor.. haha den i carry tripod... btw u have the same name as my hubbs.. hahaha

Not heavy. I compared for you already. Only 110g difference between 18-105 and 11-16

get gf1 or pen or one of the micro4/3 camera with a basic pancake lens. That should be small, light, stylish, with all the potential of a proper dslr.
