If you check ealier in the post I indicated how to hook up the wiring to vertical grip. You will see 3 wires on the vertical grip Blue, black and yellow. Blue & Black short at pre focus and Blue black and yellow short when shutter button is depress fully. Remove the exisiting cables and solder in new wires.

For those with the modded grip and wan to insert NP-800 batts like this, can get a 3rd party batt for $18 each here.

I finally put in 2 NP-800 battery into the grip.. it now can power up my 5D.

Now, anyone know if the battery go weak, is there any indicatior on the LCD screen?

There won't be any indicator that the battery pack is low as it thinks you are running from the mains. If it runs out of power I assume it switches to the battery inside the camera.

if thast the case, i'll need to make a battery indicator..

There are schematic on making the batery indicator on the web. Good luck.

why not just simply test with exhausted batteries and see if the LCD displays the usual red-light low-batt warning first? ;)

By the way weikee how many shots can you get on your configuration?

did not try to take picture until it dry up... so can't really tell.

I taken around 50 photos already. maybe this coming weekend will give dry out the battery.

anywhere i can get the battery indicatior.. on the internew got lots of it, but non that i want to. Last time i remember got a DIY page on this "Maha POWERBank", now is lost..

hi guys..need some help

i solder the wires, then shutter can release (happy since this is the first time i tried soldering)! but cannot focus...is there something that i did?

i took this as reference
http://www.jjmb.nl/content/content.php?Name=Remote

my connections :

Blue | Black | Yellow (from grip)
--|------|-----|----
Red | Black | White (my cdrom audio cable wires)

is there anything wrong? did i connect wrongly? i dun think there's something wrong with soldering if not how can the shutter release...

As far as I know the 3 wires on the shutter button are Blue, black and yellow. Blue & Black short at pre focus and Blue black and yellow short when shutter button is depress fully.

In case anyone is interested, I have a spare Canon Bp-200 for sale. Bought for wife, but she already got an overseas colleague to mod for her using another unit.

Condition is about 9, and tested to work for all buttons.

use a voltmeter's tone-trace function (whatever that's called) and tap any of the two pins. then half-depress the shutter and see if you get a tone, if not swap around the combination on the three pins and the two that beep are your focus pair. all three would be for shutter. that's how i figured out by bp200.

You mean multimeter and the funtion is called continuity check.

Different ppls may used diffrent color of CD ROM cable.
Ok, make it easy and simple:-
For BP200, uses the Black, Blue and yellow wire.
To connect to the Remove port of the 5D:-
1) Yellow wire of BP200 connect to the left pin of the connecter of 5D(the Remove port facing you).
2) Black wire of BP200 connect to the middle pin of the connecter of 5D(the Remove port facing you).
3) Blue wire of BP200 connect to the right pin of the connecter of 5D(the remove port facing you).

Hope this help.
Regards.

Yup, like new condition.
Shutter Release button works very smooth also.
Like the ORI SR, half press for focusing, full press for SR.
;) ;) ;)
