Ah! Thanks for the info! Guess i'll just have to content with my paper made bounce cards :bsmilie:

You can always go Art's friend at either Bras Besah or Ngee Ann City. Both have these foamy sheets that can be used. I've tried. :)

I just went to one at bras basah..can't find leh.. or maybe i'm not looking in the correct place.

Yups the Art Friend @ bras basah complex does indeed sell.. 1 dollar per sheet and for the measurements as described in the video, you can get 2 abetterbouncecard from it. They have it at the shop at the back, u gotta go search.

Btw, if any of you guys are looking for the black rubber strap, the cheapest way is to approach a bicycle store and ask for discarded inner tubing... It is free and it would give u at least 100 bands... haha... i am a cheepo... :)

Which part of the shop mind i ask? The place is like a big treasure chamber...

My bro made one as instructed by the video with the foam from Spotlight. The result? It isn't as good as my good old DIY PVC bounce card. The "A Better Bounce Card" still casts a rather strong shadow behind the subject. In an indoor situation I would still stick to the good old fashion bounce card or better still, a LS. If I want to throw more light forward instead of up at the ceiling, i have a self-designed DIY bounce card that does just that. :)

Haha, well to be honest, u have to search for it... I think it is the 3rd or 4th row from the left as you enter the shop.

Would you mind showing us a side by side comparison of the 2 photos? I have been using the abetterbouncecard and i feel that the results are rather good...

Okie, here are the test shots:

A better bounce card:

Normal bounce card:

The better bounce throws less light up to the ceiling so if you're shooting in normal rooms the normal bounce card will still give you much softer shadows since it throws more light up onto the ceiling which then reflects downwards in a very diffused manner.

Thanks for sharing.

Like 2nd pic. What is the Normal bounce card ? Flat ? What is the size of it ?

I tried to use white plastic folder (half of B4 size), flat, and did not see the shadows thrown to the back. Rubber band was using the popular rubber ring/band that many young people like to wear on their wrist.

It's a flat piece of white PVC. Cut from a roughly half A4 sized sheet. Attached via those 3M plastic velcro-like thingies.

Dear ALL

Try this cheap solution, I am using it work 100% the same and easily to store.

Go to the Book shop and buy those A4 plastic folder that normally you put in the documents. They come with various color but I buy the white one not the transparent.
Put in between the the folder a piece of white paper and cut the profile according to the video. and you get a bounce card that work effectively, easy to keep as the plastic cover will not be damage easily.

Next experiment is to use this plastic folder to wrap around the light and let it work like a lightsphere not tried yet.

got my foam sheets at Art Friend, the size is big enough to make 2 BBCards.$1 per sheet.

Some good news

Was at spotlight yesterday the white colour stocks have arrived

But limited supply

BTW, where can I get the normal bounce card? And how much is it?

Not totally useless, have to view the video again, you can still use the flash directly but instead of head-on direct, positioned it away slightly such that the DIY bounced card is reflecting the diffused light into the subjects direction.

So for outdoor flash, use the flash in the direct flash way but slanted a little, must see the video again.
