Dissapointed with Eastgear!

I have bought a NP-E3 travel charger back in early 2007 and it broke down after a few months.

Sent it in around Oct 2007 before I relocate to Hong Kong. However, the representation said they are currently out of stock and can only replace it in a few weeks.

Relocated to Hong Kong in Dec and still no news. Then get an email in Jan 2008 about the replacement. Thought I will go back to Singapore to take it but never have the chance.

Then early 2010, my original charger died. I decided to buy 2 more travel charger and sent Eastgear an email asking if I can still get the replacement and buy 1 more.

No reply. Sent second email also no reply.

If I am told that they could not give me back the replacement then it is fine. But no reply is worst...worst kind of attitude.

I do not care about the charger anymore as I am more pissed with the attitude. If Eastgear think I could not do anything...then this is my first step.

Second step is a few calls to complain.

Then in final step, I will write in all major forum (PhotoMalaysia in Malaysia, DCHome in HK, FredMiranda, DPreview etc.) about Eastgear.

i think as much as you should get a reply, the question is how you expect a shop to hold one x charger for you indefinitely as well.
 

hmm...not sure about their email system...but they picked my calls the last times i called.
maybe you can ask someone local to give them a call? :)

In all sincerity, if you were able to be there right at that time in early 2008 to exchange your set, they would probably have honoured their words.
In fact, I think it is pretty gentlemanly of them (like all self-respecting business should) to offer the exchange.
However, from early 2008 to end December 2010 - it's almost three years.
Frankly, if you don't mind me saying, asking them for a replacement after all these years may be a little difficult.

As a consumer, you certainly have every right to write to all the major forums to complain about this.
Perhaps you may be able to strike gold with some of these forums with your complain.
From the depth of my heart, I wish you every success.
 

If I were Eastgear, I would charge TS for at least 2 years of storage and admin. fee before providing the exchange. The cost might add up to about 2-3 new chargers.

In HK, they will dispose your laundry if you do not come back to collect them within 3 months. And TS expects Eastgear to hold the charger for 3 years?

And if this is really such an important thing for me, I would pick up the phone and call them if they didn't reply my email inquiry. Not writing complaints in various forums.
 

have you taken any steps to ensure that they had gotten or read the mail?
eg. Delivery Receipt, Read receipt?

I suggest you CALL them, before ranting around in forums (which would not help you any bit)

3 years?! hahahahaha, wonder who's the disappointing one.
 

It's just ridiculous to wait for so long and expect them to be holding the item for you 'when you feel convenient to collect it'. This ain't a long distance relationship where the other party is expected to wait for you. You should have asked someone to collect on your behalf back then and have it mailed to you.

by the way i hope EastGear did not promise u a lifetime warranty... else i fear in 2013 you are going to start another thread and complain about them. :sweat:
 

by sending Email, it's not the fastest efficiency. blame yourself for saving telephone bills for not calling them in the first place.
 

i agree with the assessment that this is a pointless 'complaint'. you really expect Eastgear to hold something since 2008? i think they have done their due diligence. IMO, it is you who is rather unreasonable.
