For those who have the ME-1 eye-cup, do try it with the E-620. You will find that the viewfinder is a lot easier on the eye. I have the ME-1 since my E-510 days but rarely use it as I do not 'feel' the increase is significant. With the E-620, I do 'feel' that the ME-1 is doing it's job, could be a psychological thing...

Only thing is - you'll have to push the ME-1 up a little bit if you want to pull put the articulating LCD. Try and see if it works for you...

One more thing about the E-620 - Olympus has changed the way IS works. On the E-620 (I'm not sure if it started with the E-30), IS will not activate when shutter speed goes beyond 2 seconds (also mentioned in the manual when I RTFM to confirm). A small change from the E-5XX series and E-3 but I think it makes perfect sense...

Thanks for the update on the little, nitty gritty things that makes a difference.

The IS bypass is a very sensible thing... because that would introduce some form of image blurring when used on long exposures... I usually have to turn it off manually, now its nice to know it is automatically turned off when shooting beyond 2 seconds... I think this will be implements on firmware updates on all IS enabled cameras in the future...

Finally, I've got the E-620 as a backup to my E-3... The buttons on the E-620 are smaller than I thought, compared to the viewfinder on the E-3, the viewfinder on the E-620 is tiny... Pairing it with the 25mm pancake, it makes an excellent small form factor DSLR for carrying around daily!

Overall, a great little camera, only a minor quibble - I do not quite like the grip. I thought the grip will be like the E-420 which I like. But the grip on the E-620 has more bulk to it and when one actually handles it, it is less comfortable. Hmm... guess I'll have to learn to get used to it - I opted the E-620 over the E-4XX due to image stabilisation.

It is no secret that I like the Art Filters implementation by Olympus very much. And now that I actually see them at work, I have to say I like them even more, especially so when I could actually see the effect on 'Liveview'!

I think I'll be flooding the Photo Galleries with the photos processed through Art Filters ;)

Microcosm - I understand the recent concerns of posting pictures in Equipment discussion forums, but any possibility about a 'Show Your Art Filters' thread?

I held it at the Olympus showroom, feels so tiny in the hand, after using E-3 wif grip for more than a yr...among the art filter, like the soft focus & grainy film, most immediately pleasing...

I am smiling as I am picturing someone with a Nikon D3 or Canon 1Ds holding that tiny E-620 in his hands...

It's me raving about the Art Filters again... :embrass:

I've been playing around with Art Filters, and have like it very much. In fact, it is my default capture mode.... Combining the Art Filters and different aspect ratios give pretty good results... even with everyday things at home/kitchen, in the office, on the streets etc ... Somehow, the Art Filters work well and give very pleasing results (of course you should follow the basic composition rules also lah..). Believe me when I say even the W.C. or a running tap taken using Grainy Film looks quite cool (and artistic)! Try soft focus using aspect ratio of 6:6 on people...

Although the Art Filters' effects can in one way or another, be replicated through post-processing, but nothing beats the joy of seeing it first hand and the ability to share immediately...

For me, the E-620 and the 25mm is a perfect combo, and I've been enjoying the photo-taking experience.... :)

Totally understandable... totally...

The grip's too shallow if you ask me. For something with a 6 in front of its model number, i was expecting something closer to the E3/E30 kind of body. But still, the features are fabulous. Also, the body feels much better than the 520 that i have. Come to think of it, the E450 is more solidly built than the 520 as well. That 'shiok solid' feel of the E3.

I guess i'm too tired or something, when i first read what you said,i thought you this "This group is too shallow" and i was about to scold you when i realise that what you said at the back doesn't make sense with your first sentance:bsmilie:

the E620 is designed to be a compact dslr in line with the E4xx series while having the features from higher end models. if you need the grip, then the E30 would be the camera for you.

users of the E5xx series -> move up to the E30
users of the E4xx series -> move up to the E620

E-330 move where? Any chance of a E-350 in the works?:dunno:

m4/3s maybe? but with the current development towards CDAF...i doubt we will see the E330 live view mode A implementation for a while...

really I think implementation of E330 will not be attempted anymore until long long time. Why? cos it uses 2 sensors. The rest of the live view implementation uses only 1 sensor.

Hmm,

true but the porromirror concept is quite a cool thing imo. :D

Cowz.

speaking about the E-330, I was at Bugis Junction today and I saw someone using this camera. Such a sexy little thing.

Anyway back to the 620. Try using the pop art filter on graffiti. The colour saturation really makes the graffiti stand out alot.

For those who have the ME-1 eye-cup, do try it with the E-620. You will find that the viewfinder is a lot easier on the eye. Hello,

Newbie here... I have tried E-620 in a shop. When using viewfinder with my left eye and turning the dial to adjust aperture with my right thumb, I found it uncomfortable because my right thumb kept rubbing against my glasses (leaving finger print & grease on my glasses).

Would the eye-cup mentioned above help to alleviate this issue? Or is there any accessory to address this issue?

I don't remember I have this problem when I tried E-520.

Thank you.
