[ Discuss ] What is the attraction of Sony A7 compare to m43?

Same sentiments. I feel the current af lenses are too slow in terms of aperture speed flr the price of 1k++.

So I am sticking to manual RF lenses for nw. But proper uwa may really maybe have to wait for a sony one.

for now my 15 4.5 cv will do. 35 and 50mm lenses work well on the a7

I believe Sony will produce an UWA FE lens very soon to meet the demand of landscape shooters who especially are using A7R. Probably that is the intent when they use tilted microlenses on the edges of the sensor?

I wish I had experience in mf like urs. Me no skills haha

Paying for af so I can snap my baby daughter haha

Gizmodo's sharing of the A7/A7r at http://gizmodo.com/sony-a7-a7r-review-so-long-dslrs-hello-future-of-ph-1469132320

picked this review as the EM-1 was mentioned in a few comparisons and in line with Thread's title.

The strengths of a full-frame sensor are delivered with excellent IQ in the A7/A7r. In comparison, the EM-1's edges out in AF speed and also ergonomics. (no, no IQ comparisons between EM-1 and A7 but i'm sure it'll be released later' To quote: 'The last camera I used was the Olympus OM-D E-M1, where the dials seem designed exactly for fingertips, where as Sony's seem designed for elegance.'

batt life is still an issue and video output can be improved.

go read, good reading for the day haha.

I have ordered an A7 with sony center and 35mm from amazon japan. Never ever try a full frame camera before and sony gave us a chance to own them at the same cost and same size as my em1... If A7/r were to launch much earlier, i will not have gotten an em1 or gx7 in the first place. How to curb my gas lol. Now trying to limit myself to zoom lenses for m4/3 and prime lenses for A7.

Interesting trend in BnS. Ppl selling off Leica M9/Ps, full frame dslrs, etc. Seemed A7/Rs r really changing d camera scene here.

Na, I've seen people selling these cameras for goodness since how long ago.

Can't assume they are selling to change to the A7/7r , that's like assuming people sell their cars just because they all decide to cycle to work instead.

Guess this cam is what many folks has been waiting for.
Well, there's a different cam suitable for everyone.

My thoughts are that many folks who bought into the huge DSLR and lens eventually found they actually do not need the Huge apertures in their normal use since many just taking pics of their family, GFs, pets etc.

Referring to huge 'sensors' instead of apertures ?
iPhone 5s has a huge aperture of f2.2 but .... Haha.

there's also at least 4 RX1 sale. :bsmilie:

Well I must say the AF on the m4/3 is super good after having the A7.

Number of keepers on my GX7 is definitely much higher than my A7r. Have to keep the shutter speed quite high to avoid blurring. "Shutter Shock" would be the least of the issues as simply holding a 36MP camera steady is not easy. However, quite impressed by the PDAF on the LA-EA4 adapter. When I point the A7r at anything, it is already in focus as it is focusing constantly. However, only a few PDAF points in a small area in the center of the viewfinder... Have ordered the huge battery grip to try to hold the camera more steadily...

Just tried the A7 with the Sonnar T*35/2.8 at Sony store for around 20 mins (heh , no one to fight with me on a thurs evening at 840pm.

The specs are obviously great and mind blowing with really really good DOF.

It's sturdy and most of all, really lightweight but it feels very 'machined' and designed more for elegance, as if the product designer had more say over the engineer in its design.

I guess there will be people calling me bullshit for paying more attention to 'feel' than specs but that's me :)

The E-M5 didn't feel right to a lot of people until they added the optional grip. I'll see if this feels right. Heh.

wow. This is the official grip? Looks really bad-ass :)Looks definitely capable of giving a good grip for the zoom lenses coming out soon.
