Dirty Filters

My Skylight UV Filters on my 20mm and 50mm lens are dirty and oily after about 5 years that it's affecting the quality of my photos.

Do you guys normally clean them or throw them away?

I've tried cleaning them with a lens cloth but the oily stains still remain.. should I just buy a new one?

Use a lenspen.

Use a proper lens cleaning paper (kodak type that is sold in Cathay) to clean off the oil stain.

or wash it with mild soap solutions to get rid of the oil stain if it is too stubborn

If it's a multicoated filter, do not use detergent. It will cause the coating to delaminate.

Use a lenspen and lens fluid combination it should work. But after using 5 years if you are not using a good filter then just throw it away and get a new one. It is not that expensive to get a decent filter now days.

Try shops like Orient Photo.
They are selling it for <$10 (I think).

Try microfiber cloth, it can do wonder in lifting oil stain. I almost never use lens cleaning fluid to clean my lenses.
