Hi guys, I was out on a photoshooting trip today with my 400D. During mid-trip, I realise there is a dot between the top and middle AF points and a small 'c' dirt from the viewfinder. I assume it is on the viewfinder since the pictures I took have no dots. I tried the dust blower on the view finder but the dirt still there, so I drip the lens solution on the cotton bud and clean the viewfnder, then wipe clean with the lens tissue wrapped around a cotton bud. I found that the cotton bud turns black after wiping.

Am I supposed to clean the viewfinder using this method? What is this black thingy on the cotton bud? Is it some special chemical on the viewfind? Can't be dirt right?

Even after cleaning, the stains still there in the view finder. Should I send for servicing at canon? May I know how will be the charges like?

Hope fellow CS-ers can help me. Thank you!

Think its on the mirror or the focusing screen.. Not on the viewfinder.. :)

Had the same problem as you. but dont fret it wonuldnt appear on your photos. just learn to live with dust on ur camera its normal. did u change lenses when its open? if u do put the camera body faced down so minimal dust would enter the mounting area. also please off ur camera as the static charge would attract some mean dust.

solution: if u are really picky about the dust, send it to canon service for i think 20 dollars they can get it fixed for u in less then an hour. like the previous person said its just the focusing screen.

Thanks for your comments, I think I did on my cam while changing lens. I guess the static did attracted some mean dust in. I will go clean it when there is more dirt :bsmilie: Thanks alot
