I go directly to NTUC office to renew my insurance, no agent needed, maybe tats why I get it cheaper?

Just renewed mine in Dec. I was surprise when I reviewed the premium and saw it went up by a couple of hundred dollars (about 20%). The reply from my broker was that there is a general increase in premium due to the increase claims. Did not like the price, so when to shop around for a better deal. Finally, settled on AA+HSBC. The premium was a few dollars more than my last premium and the package is pretty good. So, if you are an AA member, can give HSBC a try. Go to the AA site to get a free quote. [Note: I've no dealings with AA or HSBC, except as a customer].

guys,

how expensive is expensive? My 1 year old 1.5l nissan sylphy just got quoted $1600 (no NCD), AIG, can go back to authorised dealers for repairs. I am over 30... engineer occupation.

Can I get significantly cheaper rate outside?

I wonder if the financial crisis has anything to do with this? Most (if not all) financial institutions are badly hit and this includes insurance companies. This could be one way of recouping losses. My renewal is due in May...keeping fingers crossed.

Buying direct is not cheaper.

Yes indeed. I know a motor insurance specialist that deals with all the motor insurance companies in Singapore. Hence he would go and get quotes from all the insurer and compare which is the lowest cost for the customer. Its at no extra cost to the customer and whichever insurance company that you sign up through him, he gets the commission.
Savings of $500 is not unheard of.

Care to share the contact so we can also benefit?:)
