What about There you'll be by faith hill ????

do make sure that you didn't violate copyright issue pertaining the use of music/song track in your commercial site.

I used royalty free music for commercial sites.or if you have any friend that play the piano or organ just record their plays.

oooooooooook thanx everyone eheheh.. the music gotta go, and the noisy pics gotta go too mauahha.. or re-edit.. i agree somewhat ;p

as for the speed.. i like the speed...! because it's quite alot of images i want it fast enuff so viewers don't get bored and view it to the end. and i guess it's meant to be an "impact/impression" thing rather that a gallery to really scrutinise the photography.

just a question.. how many of you really viewed it till the end, if u dun mind telling me. :)

ME ME ME

Have to agree that it's a nice song and I enjoyed the montage till the end, just that it may not apply well to this montage. Hee, actually I've let it play in the background for say 20+ times to enjoy the song while i work. Thanks DJ Joho.

I did.

Thought the music fitted the speed of transition. With the no. of pics its just nice to keep one looking till the end. And i actually preferred the grainy pics more  .

EH

Aaahh.. one of my fav series from your colelction.

I like the original song (the lyrics, to me, doesn't matter too much) as it goes well with the speed .. and I like the pixs to be grainy too.

can i recommand you a song?

nicole kidman and ewan mcgrager - come what may. ( moulin rouge soundtrack )

I agree that Come What May is another possible candidate if you want to switch song.

Other possibilities:

She's The One - Robbie Williams
Faithfully - Journey

If you are looking at jazz, perhaps Stan Getz, Laura Fygi, Pink Martini.

Looks like most of your established fans are divided between noisy/less noisy pix and the choice of song :p

Romantic

Great choice

maybe a bit too fast the images... song is nt competitible... this is just wat i think.. =P

From a consumer point of view, I too felt the images were a little too fast and I think there's some sort of chronological order but the flow doesn't come through that clearly for me. The music also didn't do it for me.

That said, the photos themselves are beautiful.

The site loads/works perfectly in Firefox as far as i can tell.

The flash presentation is very good. Quite an unusual and grungy song to use but it suits the speed of the slides. However I did find the moving vertical lines a tad distracting.

Just a noob's 2 cents.

;)

jOhO - there you go again... spoiling market!!! because of that... must whack hard hard!!

music - to me, the song is about a guy begging the girl to take him back... but i could have interpreted the song wrongly...
speed - i find it a little fast... but hey, there is a pause button...
i found the show a little difficult to follow - could be that there were too many different photo effects coupled with the confusing sequence of events and a short intervals?

that been said, i really like some of shots in there, particularly the bride portraits (in the beginning and the other one with the vail), the close-up kiss (somewhere in the middle?), and the kiss in the shadows (also in the middle somewhere?). very well complemented with some of the more abstract shots (back of the gown, tea pouring, diamond ring)... also like the little rascals at the end!! it's a pity the programme doesn't provide a choice of thumbnails.[/size]

Hi joho,

A damn nice montage.... like the pictures taken, can feel the happiness and joyous mood of the wedding... suddenly wished the couple was me with my girlfriend... ;)

Same sentiments as the rest... the photos went by pretty fast...can improve by extending each frame it a second or two longer per photo. The running lines were a little distracting but acceptable. I think you really need to change the song... if i am not wrong ah... its about a guy leaving a gal for some other gal.... hence... "A Reason". I think there's plenty of music software out there that can mute out the lyrics and retain the music.

Good job man!!

Hey i'm a fan of your works. I actually viewed the whole show and have some comments:

1. The speed is fast but I thought it suited the pace of the song. I had enough time to 'feel' the love and atmosphere of the wedding.

2. Maybe you can select two of the best shots (most emotional perhaps) and put them as the first and last of the slide show, and put them on for a longer duration (fade in for the first, fade out for the last). I personally find that it gives a more lasting impression of a slideshow.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi JOhO

I'm quite fussy when it comes to wedding pics but I must say, your music montage has converted me to one of your fans now! You captured the romantic feel to the wedding and I like those diamond rings and gentle kisses photos. ;) I thought the song (though the lyrics are sad), suited the pace of the slideshow and I understant how you must have struggled to reach a compromise between reducing the no. of photos vs slowing the speed down for viewers. Overall, great  job. I watched it to the end and am going to watch it again.

i want to sincerely thank everyone for their comments. this is by far the most controversial wedding thread i have ever opened and it's great feedback!

i have gone thru the montage once again with different music, but u know.. i think i'm stuck with the original. i think alot of my work is based on feel, so it's hard to explain why i chose this or that.

however, if some have misinterpreted the song, here's the lyrics just in case:

"The Reason" - Hoobastank

I'm not a perfect person
There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
Thats why i need you to hear

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is You [x4]

I'm not a perfect person
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know
A reason for all that I do
And the reason is you

The main point of this song is changing for the person you love, and to start afresh (a marriage is like a new beginning). there are other subtle lyrics to point to the fact that he has hurt her before, and the whole song implies that it's a thing of the past.

the only line that implies that the reln is over is "And so I have to say before I go" which is not a very strong implication. most pple however thinks this is a "post-break up" type song.

i wonder though, if they've broken up, why would he change for her? :) he should be changing for the next girl. herein lies the "hope" that the reln will go on, with him being a better man becos of her. this song, to me, is filled with love, and hope.

ok, back to the speed, as i, and a few have mentioned, the speed is due mainly to the tempo of the song, and while i could take away some images which are not as strong or technically weak (if you call grain "weak" ehehhee) then i can lengthen the duration of each image being displayed. but that will kill the "tempo" of the whole show.

i made this montage not for viewers to "SEE" the images, but to feel it. because as you briefly see the images (without pressing pause!!) u only have time for your initial feelings. you don't have time to say (as some of us photographers like to do) "why so dark" "why so grainy" "why hand chopped off" "why this" "why that". this isn't about imaging. it's about how you feel when you see it. if you feel stressed and jumpy becos of the speed, then i've failed, but if it's powerful enuff for you to realise that this is one truly happy couple and as one above has said he "wished the couple was me with my girlfriend" (thanx hottypot!), then i have truly succeeded.

i have taken note about the seeming lack of connection between the photographs, probably because this couple had a church wedding on one day, and the customary and banquet on the next. to make this more flowing, i could display the getting ready and groom arriving images FIRST, then the church, then the tea ceremony and banquet. but that's not how it actually went. if i did make this decision to swap the images around, it would be becos of "commercial" or marketing reasons, which i might do, to try to quell the impressions that my images don't flow with time, for those (which is most!) that don't know wat happened that day. :)

again, wanna thank everyone for the comments, it's given me alot of "ammo" to think about what i do, and why i do it, and where i am weak and should pay attention in future. thanx!!! :)

i still can't get over how varied the responses are... it's great!! i think it's good news for me, as "unique" work is often highly contested. of course, marketing "unique" work is a different matter (niche customers, smaller base etc), but we're not talking about that here. :bsmilie:

on a side note, i'm not one for the typical "lovey dovey songs" for weddings (don't ask me why.. i'm just wierd? ahhaha). ;p

i'll double that!!

jOhO - forgot to finish off my last post by say that this is a great value-added service for the couple. when i got married, i had to do this myself to share my wedding pictures (while trying to include the emotions behind it) with friends and relatives who were overseas etc.

for that, you get another

   very nice!! I like the lines  , thought that its quite cool. Nice song choice, something different from the usual slow romantic songs. Another  !

nice:bsmilie: Well done.
