nice. are they posing or is this a chanced shot.

#1 kitchen staff at Prayag Hotel, Allahabad. Indians there hold themself high when they noticed themselves being photographed at. sometimes they can look very dramatic, perhaps a bit too dramatic for me with his chopper on his hand.

chanced shot.

the only time i ask people to "pose" is when they are in a backlit position and i didn't want to disappoint them by showing them the camera LCD with their faces in silhouette, so i would ask them to turn in another direction.

thanks. i'm also impressed with your shots of the great canyon. i haven't have any decent landscape to showcase.

I noticed some of your pics have a bit of hazy-ness (if that's the correct word ? for near transparent white "smoke").

Did you make it like that, purposely ? Just curious ....

TIA

that's the result of using density filters (GND). the poorer the quality and the poorer cleaniness of the filter, the more hazy it is. sometimes it helps to give better colors and low tonal contrast for a soothing mood at the expense of low detail contrast, but u of cos dun get the other effect of sparking sharpness.

think can be overcome with pp actually

just up contrast slightly with curves and the problem should be gone, actually

don't get very major issues with tianya though, could it be singh ray? (ironic if it is, though, it's so expensive!)

no, i walk around with the filter so they get dirty easily. that is why i say somebody pls invent a controllable built in GND, CPL and ND filter. i dun mind paying $500 more if they dun get dirty within reasonable DSLR lifespan.

built into the lens?

i have seen someone's old lens, got built in red filter, sunset filter, etc for film, damn cool

i would think nd is possible, but not gnd and cpl, for the previously mentioned it was just a rotatable part where you can just select the filters and it would insert a piece of the filter at the rear element area if i'm not wrong. pretty cool stuff. controllable is a bit hard though.

i agree with you though, sometimes it's just painful to have to take out the gnd in and out, not all situations warrant it, so i just carry it in my hand when not.. and you don't always have the leisure and/or time to wipe it down properly during travel.

nope, need to be built into the body in front of mirror, so that it can works for all lenses. make it into a shutter type of function that can move in and out of the optic axis, and the GND can be adjusted via rotating of a dial....

well, it is just a dream becos i have seen no one else thinking of that. no demand, no supply.... besides technically it is going to be challenging.... becos it will add volume and weight, plus whether there is space for that.... not sure but probably unlikely.
