another of the many kumbh mela pictures on the same nite. well, the colors can't differ that much, but it is people everywhere, literally, in at least of tens of thousands or more. but the area is large, and at our eye level, they are quite sparse apart....

towards the morning where there are more people aggregating together. a zoom in picture to have some close-up on the people, later some time will post one where they are like dots only

p.s. somehow my nikon D50 have the problem with vermilion red being too bright, fused and losing details. in fact i have to suppress it by desaturating it and darkening it to prevent it from ruining the picture.

perhaps. but i guess if you see me going taiwan and taking photos of all the pretty girls, that probably won't mean there is no ugly girls there. probably i have selected by aesthetic....

perhaps these few days will pick a picture of the taj mahal' s backyard to show the reality values. but then it is not going to be that nice as the others.... in terms of aesthetics.....

Trust me.....i know....i was born there. That's why it was a pleasure to see a good looking perspective.

Zoosh, I really admire your shots. Thanks for sharing. Brigthened up my day.

are you from varanasi? one thing we dreaded most is the comparatively not so fresh air there. especially when we first arrived and stop for half an hour next to a diesel factory before the train enters the train station at varanasi. the air is pungent (toxic) next to that diesel factory. and we all got sorethroat that few days. some of us got nauseous the same nite.

Bro,
Every picture that you've posted here takes my breath away.
You've turned ordinary scenes into masterpieces.

Maybe its your humility that you refuse to admit that, but let me tell you that you have some talent. You can easily turn pro, if you aren't already one

I've sent the link to your thread to a few friends and everyone has been awed.

Keep posting your photos. I can't wait to see your full collection.

Cheers and good luck.

using simple controls and avoiding complicated handling. i find difficulty coping with fast change of settings while catching fleeting moments, and is still very inconsistent. only about 1 out of 3-10 pictures are decent enough, and perhaps 1 out of 20-50 makes for posting eventually.

compared to the street photographers that i went with in various trips, they are far more consistent and steady, and also more senior. with so many prefessional wedding photographers and expert wildlife/macro shooters, there is no way to stage a comparison as talented or pro. i rely on composition and colors, and i know my pictures are still weak in crispness.

being a DSLR user for slightly more than a year, i hope to upgrade myself from a newbie into a skilled enthusiast, and hopefully in 3-5 years time, achieve what clubsnap travel veterans like nuts, w.s. and eikin can shoot at the moment, expanding my field into more difficult lighting situations and stronger composition/perspective. i'm also learning from seniors like hosea, babykailan and streetshooter. and even those that start at around the same time, zerodivine shoots tremendously well with rapid improvement, so is jiven. of cos, there are people who sees the top photographers overseas as the benchmark with local clubsnapper stuff as mediocre. but my expectation is quite low, and what fellow singaporeans can produce is good enough to thrill me and encourage me to improve, and hopefully in time, reach achievable standards.

sorry to the others for the OT, just wanted to share the sentiments of a newbie (anything less than 2 years should be quite a newbie in my opinion).

I love the Birdie shot..:) so cute..

I am not form Varanasi but have been there.

The air could be quiet disturbing before major railway stations due lot of manufacturing establishments near the railway yard.

If comparitively meant - compared to singapore - it would be difficult to get that. But outskirts of the city are a pleasant 'sight'.. ..for the ears...(u know what i mean!!)

Nice pic of the sparrow....didn't know the 18-200 could give that nice a pic.

yah, sufficient distance can give some apparent shallow depth of field. did some post processing to bring out the colors too. i always thought that after downsizing, my data entry would be too small and blur to see, didn't know you can make out that is 18-200.

passengers getting bored when the train stops halfway along the route from allahabad to varanasi near ugrasenpur.

most window are covered by grills, but some of them are left open as such so that if disaster strikes, such as arson or whatever, survivors can try to escape via these open windows as an urgency exit

Nice moment, there !
Like the girl's expression. Hopefully, when she grows up, she will have a DSLR in her hands.
