Just to share my experience with this online shopping website

Looked at website, viewed contact info. said to call phone number for assistance

1st call - Guy with english accent "Im busy with customer, leave your number and ill call you back in 30mins"

2 hours later, no call. so i called back

2nd call - Same Guy "Hi, what can I do for u"
Me "I wanna check availability of this lens"
Guy "Pls purchase online" *in a rushing tone*
Me "I will, but I just need to know if I can get it from your shop"
Guy "Yes, pls purchase online" *rushing to put down the phone*
Me "I need it quite urgently so can I collect from your shop later if theres stock available now"
Guy abit frustrated "Yes I know but please purchase online"

so I followed his direction and purchased online... few minutes later received an online message reply. stock will be available in few days and will contact me. therefore i emailed him saying i need it quite urgently and wasnt told that I gotta wait that long assuming that he has available stocks. he replied, new stock coming in tomorrow 12noon and will reply me back asap.

everything still seems ok but then. STILL NO REPLY. so I online msg him again at 3pm whether the stock has arrived. and still no reply!

this kind of service seriously...

and yes im ranting here but the main point is to share with other csers on the attitude and the waiting time for the purchased products in DDelectronics. if the website could have mentioned or that rude english man would have told me that there is this waiting time, I would not have wasted my time waiting.

after such experience, I have learnt my lesson and will not save that few bucks to get such attitude and customer service. simply ruined my day.
 

The price in the webside is not what he quote me in phone. From there i do not have the trust in them

DD usually do not have stocks in hand, customers have to order online and then they get the items in.

I bought a few items from them before at very good prices but their prices have sky rocketed and many items are equal or more then original agent set.

And yes, if a real ang mo answer your call, he is usually rude and he seems to be the boss.
 

Last time their price was ok, now their price wasn't that attractive anymore. Almost same as those with local warranty.

When I went to their physical store for a look-see and asked them for a price of a lens, the guy would check the website for the price. Did he quote you higher or lower?
 

He quote me higher then what is inside the website. Higher by $100

They have 2 sites. One local in SGD, one international in USD. Their price shoot up following the Japan Tsunami last year and never come down. Used to be much lower for some lens.

Yup, I think the person who mentioned the price quoted is different have most likely been on the international site.

My experience with DD has always been great. Both Mike and Azman are really great people with good customer service and patience. If you are looking for a shop that allows you to "test until you happy" then you pay (which can take 1-2 hrs), this is probably the only shop that allows that in the Island.

As for the pricing, yes it is rather disappointing that their supplier have not been able to lower the prices. Most of their lenses are now almost similar in pricing as the AD outside. But they do offer some good deals for 3rd party lenses, and if your camera allows for micro-adjustment and you are in the market for 3rd party lens, there are still a couple of reasonable deals there. Not much though.......

I am checking the price of canon 60d with kit II and i found the price on the web is cheaper than bhphoto and amazon. That is amazing already.
Is the price increase u guys mention, only related to lenses ?

To TS, i hope u get ur stuff soon enough.
 

I've got my lens from other shops thanks. To me a few dollars isn't a big issue. Most imptly we get treated with respect and provided with adequate customer service. That was what dd has failed to provide and ya I won't like to ruin my shopping experience because of the few bucks. The English man needs to learn some manners :)

ang mo kuai lan to SG customers will not survive. lol will buy means will buy, people wont take attitude and i think we are more kuai lan if we need to.
 

Their price is no more attractive. Some time even more expensive than other authorized seller's price. Need to check properly before buying. However quite impressed with service when I bought from them last year. One Indian and one Malay were serving me.
 

Same here, +1 for good service I received while shopping @ DDE. Mike & Azman patiently waiting for me to test the lens, even when it was supposedly their closing time.
 

I picked up the D7000 from them a fortnight ago (was surprised they managed to bring one in after all, Thailand floods even), and got the 2% discount at their shop pick-up. The middle-aged Indian gentleman was indeed very polite, helpful and sincere; exactly like the same kind of service I get at John 3:16. The shop also replies to emails (I've not received a reply from MSColor equotations for a while now LOL). No clue who the Angmo person is.

One thing though; their prices are no longer as attractive as they once were.
