Sorry. Read it wrongly. It means that in future all new cameras shipped by Oly after Sep 2014 will only have local warranties.

Olympus Imaging Corporation has been providing Worldwide warranty for digital cameras and accessories since April 1, 2004, except for some countries and regions.
However, the time has come to stop providing Worldwide warranty because of regulation by laws and differences in the infrastructure of the repair facilities in individual countries.
Please kindly be informed that Worldwide warranty will not be provided with most of our Micro Four Thirds System and compact digital camera products shipped after September of 2014.
The Worldwide warranty card you have, is currently still valid as long as it meets the conditions required for warranty repair. Also, the Worldwide warranty card enclosed with the new products which you purchase from now, is also valid. Local warranty card is valid only in the country where you purchase the product and all repairs undertaken in other countries will be a chargeable service.
For any questions please refer to the "Olympus Authorized Distributor List" and contact our Service Station or Distributor for assistance.
I think it essentially means future product of Olympus does not contain 'Worldwide Warranty' card anymore.
Probably only state 'Local Warranty' or something.
I really hope this is not true... if yes it gonna deters many many ppl away.
Having a good support really boost business.

Ya I think it means that latest batches from Olympus will not include the WW warranty card.. If Daiso still ships his "older" batches with the WW warranty cards.. they should still honour the warranty I think.. Hopefully Daiso seller is still able to acquire some ex stock.. those interested better check with him and chiong liao.. hahaha![]()
Question to ask is : is Daiso an authorized dealer to even start with ?
Good qns broAt least reading the threads, so far those that bought from him was able to register those WW warranty cards successfully I think..
That doesn't mean it's an authorized dealercan register only means that the set serial no is recognized by Olympus.
Prior experience with the Fuji group was there was a company that re-sold Fuji equipment from JB, thereby managing to give lower prices while the company bragged about providing local SG warranty support too. On checking with Fuji it was found out that the company wasn't a registered authorized dealer and of course his receipts were useless. In the end, he had to reissue all his receipts from his JB source for his customers to qualify for warranty.
I am not implying anything , just that I feel it's very important for us to know the pro and con when buying , especially when it's our hard earned money being spent. As for going back to the thread topic , let's always wait for official Olympus release before speculating.
I do have a lot of friends who bought from Qoo too , and of course they are perturbed but they do understand that Photography is more than Warranty and that given the prices they paid for, anything is a bonus.
Sad to hear the news although it was expected to happen. it means that in future, we will be tied down by whatever price oly sg offer if we still want the warranty. From oly global prespective, this sure is a good move to protect territorial right and ensure price stability in individual country. But standing at a consumer point of view, this sure is a unfavourable change.
Hell yeah to that man! Given the price we paid for its still a steal. My experience is that the equipment usually outlasts the warranty unless you are unfortunate enough to get a "lemon"
I've been playing/testing/shooting the heck out of mine and fortunately everything is still performing as it should and i'm very VERY pleased.
To each his own, know your risk appetite.

Totally agreed, just enjoy the camera ... cannot complain much as we got it at almost 50% off the RRP ...
cheers
Hi Jack, you are correct too.
But then, the offer of $1,049 for body only is no longer there and it is back to $1,599. So, I suppose there is no incentive to buy from Qoo now ?
Cheers
Well, I spoke to an Olympus staff at COMEX this afternoon regarding the price discrepancies in US, Korea and SG. He talked about how Qoo10.com is negatively impacting Singapore sales. He also said that Olympus will be adopting Canon and Nixon's policy of not offering international warranty with effect from next month. So those sets bought overseas will no longer enjoy the warranty coverage in Singapore. Some overseas sets may still carry the international warranty so it's only while stock last.
guess we were making it too loud such that catch oly sg's attention and hence urging their hq to make this decision.. hahaha.. maybe next time if there's such type of lobang, we should be discreet..
