D90 vs 50d

eh you only need 2MP to fill a 1680x1024 screen lah... most ppl don't buy DSLRs just to look at screen images.

12 or 15 MP only becomes an issue when you
- want huge prints
- want to crop a small part of your whole pic for some reason

MP count is only one thing. photo quality is much more than that.

hahaha, okie, thanks

hmm... ok, i understand more pixel, larger...

but on a 22" LCD screen, if i set the pic to 1680 * 1024, will a 12mp vs 15mp show any difference?
If you meant resizing both 12 MP and 15 MP to a common image size, then of course the differences are going to be negligible, if there's going to be any.

thats where nikon does it well..

build of a professional
price of a entry level
at the heart of image ;)

i believe D90 is steps ahead of 450D, 1 small step behind 50D, albeit don have 15.6mp or iso 12800, everything else can be comparably on par between D90 and 50D :D

I absolutely agree. While Canon 450D is much more user-friendly, D90 wins hands down otherwise. Shots are better, more flexible fine-tuning of shots, etc.

Used both before, and I was really X1000 more blown away with D90. It's seriously wayy better than 450D.

I have a different opinion. Image-wise, the 450D and D90 are close! And the 50D is not far from those 2 IMO. All these APS-sensor models are a big step below the FF ones.

I believe the D90 is more user-friendly than the 450D due to the control placement and adjustment methods. But this is a rather personal thing.

Well as for myself.
The comparison I made between Canon & Nikon, is how well the cam sit on my hands. How comfortable it is. Is the weight feels good, how stable is the cam while shooting away.
If you don't feel good right from the begining, than thats not you want. Cus it will be your companion for many years.

imo :D

Yeah good one brother. Nikon OwnS! And to further support it again, a quote from Chase says the D3 adopts ground breaking functions from the D3 and high ISO performances up there with the D3 as well.

thanks for the comment :D
i think i wil get D90... D700 is a bit overkill for someone who is still learning at a beginner stage :-p

Sorry to upset you, maybe your a Canon fanboy too, but the Nikon D90 is a mid-range DSLR which fact, is supported via professional, Chase Jarvis and Cameralabs.

Sorry to have to point it out, but haven't you been bitten by a dose of fanboy-ism too? Is Nikon paying you to say all this? Did you think Canon, Fujifilm, Olympus and Pentax don't have their professional base too? Don't think so.

I found out neither Nikon or Canon pays for me to say good things about one or bad things about another; a camera is really just a tool, and I'm glad you found one that suits you, but there is no need to label someone a fanboy when they are really giving a reality check (in their right mind too).

There is really no direct comparison between both camera systems; starting from the bottom, the 1000D certainly is a little better than the D60, but after that comes the 450D, which in turn is superceded by the D90. The 50D follows that, and is a level below the D300; following that comes the D700 and the 5DMkII. Following up is the pro-body range of the 1DIII on Canon's side and the Nikon D3, a step above that.

There are no level grounds, and we're just looking at two systems. I don't even wanna confuse myself with the other brands. At the end of the day, what you are comfortable with is what you are comfortable with, but there is no need to slam another brand, or become a unpaid endorser for the brand you use.

Cheers. :)

Took the words right out of my mouth.

There's only one fanboy here.

Who gives a **** whether a camera is entry-level, mid-range, pro, etc, etc. I can call my D80 a freakin' hippopotamus if I want to, and you can't tell me I'm wrong.

And just cause some "pro" says something, you totally buy into it? If some pro told you that jumping off a 56 storey building will yield you some awesome pictures, I'm pretty darn sure you probably would jump off based on his advice.

What a complete moron.

I personally don't like the company Canon, it's counterparts have been pretty innovative and have been taking the leads in adding loads of bells and whistles to DSLRs, some unnecessary while others have become must haves. Canon on the other hand has only focused on adding few new things at a time to existing products in a manner that gives me the impression that it primarily dones not want to give consumers the best, but manage the situation such it can milk the most out of consumers.

sorry I am not a Canon fanboy, you can see I am holding D2X and D80, but I am telling the truth

Nikon Dx -pro
Dxxx - semi
Dxx - entry

canon xD -pro
xxD- semi
xxxD- entry

this is how they are gaming! sorry to upset you --- Nikon only get Dxxx ( other than D100) and above support those old manual lens on metering, Dxx does not!:bsmilie::bsmilie:

If you want to know the classification of Nikon and Canon, just check the suggested price of each type of camera. I'm not pro, but ppl work for these two big names' marketing department know precisely where each camera stands and set the price. They are paid to do it.

Coz they are big and compete head to head with one another, they will not underrate or overrate their system.

Cheers

Ok.. I apologize to those I have offended lo.

din know this thread become such a heated arguement, anyway i feel that KenBit is just being helpful to bring out a few suggestion, so are the rest as well...
whether they side with canon or nikon is definitely not wrong and is personal

Yeah definitely.

hi guys,

i went to a shop to have a look at the D90,
but was told that the D90 is a joke, particularly the video mode...
also say that should not waste my money on D90...
should get the 50D instead...

i dun know if it is real or the person just wanna promote canon 50D
guys, whats ur view on this?

i am a Nikon user for many years, but personally I do agree what the guy said "the video mode... is a joke" and D90 is not in same level compete with 50D, if you want a D90 level consider a D80 or S3 pro, and S5 pro and D300 if you want more lens support and control.

my 2 cents only
